I'm happy to share my final modular and durable window |
|
aeration panels for Jeep Wrangler JLU (2020) with you, |
|
for non-commercial use only. |
|
|
|
USE CASE |
|
On our way building an overland vehicle, we needed an |
|
emergency sleeping solution in our Jeep Wrangler JLU (in |
|
case of storms and high winds). While sleeping in a car, |
|
it's important to have an air ventilation system. Since |
|
we have an auxiliary heating system, we wanted to be able |
|
to direct the produced heat into our roof top tent or |
|
into our awning tent (since we're mostly traveling in |
|
worlds northern hemisphere). |
|

That's why I created this very modular window aeration |
|
panels, which works for it alone or in combination with |
|
my modular 74mm heating hose system with different |
|
adapters for the Eberspaecher auxiliary heating system in |
|
our Jeep. |
|
|
|
TESTED & FINAL VERSION |
|
This final version of my window aeration panel for Jeep |
|
Wrangler JLU is the result of many prototypes and a lot |
|
of learning regarding product engineering, 3d design, |
|
printing and filament constraints. This product is tested |
|
in the field in various conditions as e.g. on our trip to |
|
Iceland last summer and fully functionality is approved. |
|
The current version is a replacement for an early |
|
prototype (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4698348), |
|
which I already shared in December 2020 with the |
|
community. |
|
|
|
MATERIAL |
|
Initially I planned to print this aeration panels in ABS- |
|
S. But on the way to build some other heat exposed |
|
adapters for my hose and auxiliary heating system, I had |
|
to get the skills to print carbon enforced nylon |
|
filament. After some fails I finally got very nice |
|
results with Polymaker PolyMide PA6-CF and my Raise3D |
|
Pro2+ printer. In the mean time PA6-CF is my main |
|
filament for functional parts and I love the robust and |
|
heat resistant results. |
|
That's why I also printed this aeration panels in |
|
nylon/carbon, even if ABS would absolutely work for this |
|
type of objects. |
|
|
|
PRINTING ORIENTATION |
|
I got the best results by printing the panels in vertical |
|
orientation. That's why I'm distributing the parts print- |
|
ready with a support structure, which has to be removed |
|
after printing the two element aeration panels. |
|
|
|
FREE AND OPTIONAL TIP / DONATION |
|
I decided to share the final version of my high quality |
|
product with you, the makers community, for non- |
|
commercial applications only. Maybe my product will |
|
inspire other makers, will improve your ability to build |
|
things by studying and learning from it or you enjoy the |
|
final product by just printing it for your own use. |
