Valve Index headset tightening knob. |

Even before I got my Index I knew I needed to design and |
|
print this. |
|
The OEM knob snaps off and this snaps on. |
|
I did a lot of trial and error with sizing and found this |
|
works the best for me. However, I'd highly recommend |
|
printing just the attachment end to quickly size it |
|
according to your printer specs. I would only adjust your |
|
scaling by .03 to get it just right. |
|
Even with it snapping on, I find it does remove easily |
|
when pulled to the side. |
|
But even with that, adjusting the headset is easier with |
|
this larger knob. |
|
Maybe this will inspire you to make a better fitting one! |
|
After printing I smoothed with XTC-3D and painted the top |
|
part red. I also added black wash for a more gritty feel. |
|
I'm also uploading a replacement knob that snaps on |
|
pretty tight. Again, test print and scale accordingly. |
|
|
|
UPDATE - After going through 2 of these, I've found that |
|
PLA just isn't strong enough in the more delicate parts |
|
to stand up to inevitable drops and bangs of the headset. |
|
I'd highly recommend a stronger plastic. |
