antichrist superstar may have been the pinnacle of |
|
manson's career, and he brought a thunderous show to |
|
illinois state university's redbird arena. |
|
it did not go unnoticed by some in the christian |
|
community, who were also upset about the concert being |
|
held on a sunday. a pastor from the |
|
first assembly of god was at the helm of vigil that took |
|
place in the afternoon before the show. the queued fans |
|
were subjected to literature |
|
being passed out by the younger vigil attendees, while |
|
their folks and others attended a second vigil or a |
|
church service. none of this went unnoticed by manson who |
|
not only brought it up on stage, culminating in a 10k |
|
strong crowd yelling "goddamn," but also mentioned it in |
|
his book. |
|
|
|
the floor itself was fluid, and it was easy to move about |
|
if thats what you desired. a few costumed people, |
|
including a couple of blokes wearing |
|
wedding dresses, were peppered throughout crowd. other |
|
highlights included manson's dramatic entrance, a |
|
requested spit shower, and the frenzy to get one of the |
|
ripped bible pages. the taper did a great job of |
|
capturing the evening's sound and atmosphere. the |
|
acoustics were rather good that evening, something you |
|
would not expect in a basketball arena that has a canvas |
|
roof. |
