The equator crossing ceremony has hundreds of years of |
|
history in the nautical business. Neptunus Rex is |
|
supposed to approve the first-timers, named Pollywogs, |
|
thru a Tribunal composed by Shellbacks, the experienced |
|
sailors, who humiliates them by kissing a fish, throwing |
|
them into water, tossing them eggs or flour and similar |
|
stuff. This particular ceremony was a big mess, badly |
|
organized, and included almost all passengers of the |
|
ship, ignoring the fact whether they actually crossed the |
|
equator before or not (my father was given a certificate, |
|
despite he performed the crossing many times). There were |
|
no security members for keeping order into the queues and |
|
the people didn t respect each other. For the worst, the |
|
presenter ended the ceremony before half of the people on |
|
the queue had kissed the fish, and I was redirected to a |
|
crowded corner, where my father up deck couldn t film |
|
myself in that unique moment. I had to record a selfie |
|
video, thing I hate, as the camera performs all sort of |
|
distortions into my face, and the quality of the front |
|
camera is really bad. I owe this to the negligence of the |
|
ship organization, who ruined this magic moment. This is |
