Description: Glydus Gregory came to work for the |

California Division of Highways as a radio communications |
|
specialist on November 25, 1946 and served the Department |
|
in that capacity until his retirement in 1974. The year |
|
before he retired, he recorded reminiscences of his |
|
career in radio communications and the problems |
|
encountered in the 1940s. This is his personal |
|
recollection of his experiences working in radio |
|
communications, from when he worked at Mather Field in |
|
Sacramento before joining the Department. He spent most |
|
of his career out in the field, so some of descriptions |
|
are of mid twentieth century travel in the snow. There |
|
are descriptions of (then current, radio communications |
|
equipment) and how it was used. And some more personal |
|
reflections on what he did on the day he learned that |
|
President John F. Kennedy had been killed. |
