The recent introduction of high current-capacity
thyristors has | |
advanced the status of solid-state power supplies. ON-OFF
switching of | |
an entire rectifier bridge, rather than individual
thyristors, provides | |
a simple and economical method of control and regulation.
This control | |
philosophy causes the system to limit cycle. A describing
function is developed to model the power-supply input
transformer and rectifier bridge. The describing function
is then used | |
to predict the frequency and amplitude of the limit cycle.
A digital computer program is used to construct the
describing | |
function curves, and to simulate the dynamic response of
the system. | |
Limit cycle predictions are compared with the simulated
response to | |
verify the describing function validity.
