This is episode 25 of The Spirit of the Forest, an audio
drama, dark comedy, and variety show that reflects upon
the sadness, the absurdity, and normalcy of modern life.
Each episode is a blend of fiction and reality, and
explores a range of topics and ideas.
On this edition, we pray with some volunteers from Pat
Robertson's 700 Club Prayer Line, for the unfortunate
victims of the Bowling Green massacre and those in Sweden
and Atlanta. The Jesus energy grows feisty in the first
call, leaving our poor caller shouting at the operator.
We also hear an interview with comedian and podcast host
Marc Maron (voiced by Jess D), that doesn't turn out to
be much other than Marc getting angry with our host. It
was a flop. The flop continues with more prayer for the
victims of the attacks, but with a less feisty prayer
partner, Bob.
We venture to the forest to hear the tale "Fecundity" by
Guy de Maupassant, as told in a modern day adaptation.
This story details the account of a Senator in his young
days, when he unwittingly impregnated a motel maid, and
returned to meet his bastard son decades later. It's a
sordid tale of father, son, heredity, and fruitful
unintentions.
We conclude with an experimental narrative recorded in
the mountains near the Terwilliger Hot Springs, with a
mix of snow, biological observation, rocks, and other
discovered elements.
This episode features the vocal talent of Cheyne Willems,
Adam Hughes, Dan Crall, Cleo and Bob (700 Club Phone
operators), Pat Robertson, Gretchen Boyer, Jess D, and
the music of Holtech, Kent Sparling, and the on-hold
music used by Global Vision Bible Church in Mt. Juliet,
TN.
