Sora Shima is Adam Fulton (guitar), Gavin McDermott |
|
(drums), Jason Lurman (guitar) and Robert Shirlow (bass). |
|
Sora Shima began life in the warm, early months of 2006 |
|
in Hamilton, New Zealand, under the moniker of 'Amelia |
|
Blackout'. The original name, derived from random text in |
|
a spam email, was quickly dropped in favour of Sora Shima |
|
(or "Sky Island" in Japanese) - inspired by the |
|
imaginative worlds created by Hayao Miyazaki (Laputa) and |
|
Jonathan Swift (Gulliver's Travels). In April 2007, Sora |
|
Shima emerged from "the spare bedroom" and onto the |
|
stage. On a beautiful Sunday in August, Sora Shima |
|
recorded 7 songs at Dudley Studios in Hamilton. 3 results |
|
from this fiercely productive recording session have now |
|
found their way onto the CD being presented to you. The |
|
songs were recorded live, mostly on the first take - and |
|
mistakes have been left as they were made. Yet in some |
|
small way it successfully captures the intensity of the |
|
