Roosevelt Row Streetscape and "Shadow Play" Public Art Dedication |

Construction of the first phase has been completed of an |
|
ambitious new streetscape improvement project to bring |
|
wider sidewalks, new shade trees, pedestrian lighting, on- |
|
street parking and new dedicated bike lanes to East |
|
Roosevelt Street between Central Avenue and Third Street. |
|
The project, the outcome of a decade of work between |
|
Roosevelt Row CDC and the City of Phoenix, enhances the |
|
pedestrian amenities between the Arts District light rail |
|
station at Central and Roosevelt and the nationally- |
|
recognized businesses along the Roosevelt Row Artists |
|
District. The project is supported through the City of |
|
Phoenix, Maricopa Association of Governments and federal |
|
funds. |
|

|
Shadow Play is a sculptural shade structure built in the |
|
median between 3rd and 4th Streets north of Roosevelt St. |
|
Designed by world renowned artist and architect Meejin |
|
Yoon, the structure is off the grid capturing solar |
|
energy to power LED lighting that illuminates the area at |
|
night and providing shade during the day. The public art |
|
aspect of the streetscape project was managed by the |
|
Phoenix Office of Arts and Culture. |
