In the second of our prep football training camp reports |
|
Jason Melillo profiles the Hopkins Royals. |
|
Hopkins has gone head to head against some of the state's |
|
best football teams the past several seasons in the Lake |
|
Conference. The switch to district scheduling won't |
|
lighten the Royals load much, as they still meet all of |
|
their former conference rivals plus Maple Grove, Prior |
|
Lake and others. |
|
|
|
The Royals have four starters back on offense and three |
|
on defense as they look to build on a five win season |
|
that saw them win some big games. |
|
|
|
Quarterback Oscar Johnson is back to run the offense. He |
|
started early last season before becoming a backup. |
|
Tackle Treyvon Pettigrew and linebacker Andy Aune key the |
|
defense. |
|
|
|
The Royals open the season against Coon Rapids Aug. 22. |
|
