We have obtained images of the Orion Bar region through |
|
narrow-band filters at 6.2 and 7.8 mu m to determine |
|
whether the emission observed at these wavelengths arises |
|
from C-C modes in polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons |
|
(PAH's). Morphologically, the distribution of the |
|
emissions are similar, but appear different in detail. |
|
Quantitative comparisons of these band intensities with |
|
previous data at 8.4 and 11.3 mu m indicates that they |
|
are indeed consistent with emission from fluorescently |
|
excited PAH molecules. |
