Oral History interview with Jack Mowrey of ILWU, local 8.
Completed on December 21, 1981. This interview is part of
the Howard Kimeldorf Oral History Collection by the Labor
Archives of Washington, University of Washington

Jack Mowrey started on the waterfront in 1916. Originally
from Japan, he had spent most of his life on ships until
he landed in St. Helens, Oregon. He participated in World
War I and went back to St. Helens in 1919 after his
release. He later went to Portland and joined Local 8 of
the ILWU.
