Journal kept by Charlotte E. Church of a whaling voyage
in the South and North Pacific, 1905-1906. Journal kept
in tabular and textual form indicating it was probably
the official record. Includes a record of active whaling
in the South Pacific, a two-week stay in the Marquesas,
and whaling in the Kodiak Grounds off Alaska. She records
the daily work on the ship including discovering the
mizzen top mast being rotten. She records precise
locations of all events including a lunar eclipse and the
fact that the chronometer is slow. Two crewmen attempt to
desert the ship but are apprehended by native policemen
who collect
