Heavy Rains Flood Sod Fields |

COON RAPIDS, Minn. -- It's certainly been a wet week and |
|
all the rain is causing some problems especially for |
|
local sod farmers. |
|
|
|
This was the scene Wednesday afternoon at Rocket Turf |
|
Nursery off Coon Creek Boulevard. As you can see, many of |
|
the fields are underwater. |
|
|
|
Family members who run the farm say it's been more than |
|
three decades since it's been this wet. |
|
|
|
Bryan Lawrence of Rocket Turf Nursery says, "We have seen |
|
this before, not in recent years...1976 or 1978 would |
|
have been maybe the last time we saw this extensive of |
|
water." |
|
|
|
It's still too early to tell what the damage might be. If |
|
the seedlings have washed away, they may have to replant |
|
the crop which could delay next year's harvest by several |
|
weeks. |
