This report presents data on the distribution of minority
group students and staff in the public schools of
Connecticut. The five groups differentiated are White,
Black, Hispanic, Asian American, and American Indian. A
narrative of the report's highlights is followed by seven
graphs which show percentages of minority and nonminority
staff in Connecticut schools from 1975 to 1984. Eleven
statistical tables are provided, which give 1984 data on
(1-3) minority students by type of community, by grade,
and by school district; (4) minority students in
vocational/technical schools; (5) Project Concern (a
program for disadvantaged, urban students in Bridgeport,
Hartford, and New Haven); (6) growth rates of minority
enrollment of five percent or greater; (7) ranking of
towns by number of minority students; and (8-10) minority
staff in Connecticut by type of community, by school
district, and in vocational/technical schools; and the
final table (11) illustrates trends in minority group
students and staff in the Connecticut public schools from
1975 to 1984. (GC)
