This report is focused on New Iberia, Louisiana, its |
|
school system, and a very brief background of the |
|
integration situation in the community. A sound-on-slide |
|
machine was utilized to present an introduction to the |
|
program and to introduce the panel. (The slides are |
|
described in detail.) A brief contextual background of |
|
the problem is given, including the counselor's |
|
evaluation of the situation, his yardstick for action, |
|
and his goals. The explosive reactions to change are then |
|
discussed. Factors that should have been considered are |
|
then presented, followed by a call for unity and |
|
redirection. Plans for progress and the conclusion |
|
summarize the situation as seen by the counselors. (KJ) |
