This report contains the results of our work in setting |
|
up, aligning, and characterizing the picosecond pulse |
|
laser facility in the Photonics Laboratory. It explains |
|
the theory of production of picosecond pulses using a dye |
|
laser pumped by a mode locked argon laser. It also |
|
briefly describes our suggested uses of this facility. |
|
These include degenerate four wave mixing for the |
|
measurement of nonlinear optical effects in optical |
|
materials and electro optic sampling for the |
|
characterization of ultrafast electronic and |
|
optoelectronic devices. (jhd) |
