This report describes a study of the flow field about
interfering bodies in a supersonic stream and is directed
toward the prediction of supersonic store
carriage/separation. The development of computational
techniques aimed at producing a usable code is discussed.
The code includes a characteristic based finite
difference scheme to solve Euler's equations and a new
and general shock fitting scheme. One problem uncovered
during this first years effort is that of transition from
a regular reflection to a Mach disc shock configuration.
The basic finite difference scheme has been exercised
extensively and was proven sound. More importantly the
new shock fitting scheme is able to predict complex
interactive shock patterns.
