A flight test series investigating the airborne radar |
|
approach (ARA) for helicopters is discussed. Passive and |
|
active target enhancement methods and their relative |
|
merits are examined. A description of systems and methods |
|
involved in the ARA are presented along with subjective |
|
insights and conclusions. It is concluded that the ARA is |
|
a practical approach aid in the absence of conventional |
|
navigation aids (NAVAID's) subject to certain limitations |
|
