This paper presents a bug understanding system, called |

SNIFFER, which applies inspection methods to generate a |
|
deep understanding of a narrow class of errors. SNIFFER |
|
is an interactive debugging aide. It can locate and |
|
identify error-containing implementations of typical |
|
programming cliches, and it can describe them using the |
|
