The Sippican SXBT system is a reliable method of |
|
measuring temperatures in the upper few hundred meters of |
|
the ocean while underway. The system provides information |
|
on local temperature distribution and sonic conditions |
|
which assists the Navy in tactical decision making. This |
|
guide has been prepared to aid the system operator in |
|
discerning good data from bad data. It describes |
|
erroneous SXBT traces and simple methods to be employed |
|
for rectifying the more common problems which may occur |
|
with this equipment. |
