Prayers was founded by Rafael Reyes, the Mexican-born, |
|
San Diego-raised artist who combines industrial |
|
abrasiveness with more accessible pop sounds. Their music |
|
offers a musical and lyrical self-exploration as an |
|
outcast trapped between worlds, think black lipstick and |
|
nail polish with gang tattoos. Prayers' lyrics layer his |
|
authentic urban experience onto Goth music: the result |
|
can only be described as Cholo Goth. |
|
|
|
Vowws: the Los Angeles-based Australian duo heavily |
|
inspired by Quentin Tarantino and horror movie scores, |
|
bring clipped guitar riffs set to cinematic melodies and |
|
cut with crisp and supremely lyrical vocals. |
|
|
|
Swerving between the sarcastic and the saccharine, horror |
|
obsessed provocateurs Death Valley High deliver doom pop |
|
and death disco of the highest order. But where most |
|
macabre music-makers craft anthems for the grave, Death |
|
Valley High make songs to wake the dead. |
|
|
|
Chaos & Dugi Pentagrama are Bay Area based DJs who gained |
|
notoriety with their Kumbia Dark party and will be |
|
spinning all vinyl sets of Cholo Goth classics before, |
|
between and after the show. |
