|
During the tenth plague on Egypt, the Israelites were |
|
commanded to put blood on their doorposts so that they |
|
would be passed over when the Destroyer came to inflict |
|
death on the firstborn of Egypt. It's important to |
|
understand that God didn't need the blood to know who |
|
were his, but the Israelites needed the blood to |
|
demonstrate their trust in God. In the same way, |
|
Christians today demonstrate our trust in God through |
|
baptism, when we obey his command and have our sins |
|
washed away, so that we will be saved. |
