Alas! and did my Savior bleed, |

And did my Sovereign die? |

Would he devote that sacred head |

For such a worm as I? |

Thy body slain, sweet Jesus, thine, |

While all expos'd to wrath divine |
|
The glorious Sufferer stood. |
