MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06

     Title: Au Gratin Potatoes And Leeks

     Yield: 12 Servings

     8 c  Peeled potatoes; sliced 1/4"
     3 md Leeks; white only,
          - in 1/2" slices
     2 tb Butter
     3 tb A-P flour
   1/2 ts Salt
   1/8 ts Pepper
 1 1/3 c  Milk
     4 oz Gruyere or Ementhal cheese;
          - shredded
   1/8 ts Ground nutmeg

MMMMM-----------------------CRUMB TOPPING----------------------------
   1/3 c  Dry bread crumbs
     2 tb Butter; melted
   1/4 c  Cheddar cheese; shredded
          Chives; chopped (optional)

 Set oven @ 325°F/165°C.

 Place potatoes in a Dutch oven and cover with water. Bring to a
 boil. Add leeks; return to a boil. Cover and cook for 5 minutes.
 Drain and pat dry. Place in a greased 13x9" baking dish.

 In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Stir in flour,
 salt, and pepper until smooth; gradually add milk. Bring to a boil;
 cook and stir until thickened, 1 to 2 minutes. Stir in cheese and
 nutmeg until cheese is melted. Pour over potato mixture. Toss bread
 crumbs and butter; sprinkle over the top.

 Cover and bake for 40 minutes. Uncover; sprinkle with cheddar
 cheese. Bake, uncovered, until potatoes are tender, 15 to
 20 minutes. If desired, top with chives.
