     Title: Sausage Plait (English)

     Yield: 4 Servings

     8 oz Shortcrust pastry
          Filling:
     8 oz Sausage meat
     2    Tomatoes
     1 sm Onion
     2 oz Mushrooms
     1 pn Mixed herbs
          Salt and pepper
     1    Egg; beaten

 Set oven to 400°F or mark 6. Chop the tomatoes, onion and mushrooms
 and mix with the sausage meat and the herbs. Roll out the pastry on
 a floured surface to a rectangle 12x9" and place on a greased
 baking tray. Arrange the filling down the centure of the pastry.
 Cut the pastry into 1/2" strips at an angle, either side of the
 filling. Fold the pastry strips, alternately, over the mixture to
 look like a plait. Brush with beaten egg and bake for 30-35 minutes.
