    1/2  c             Butter
  1      c             Sugar
  1                    Egg
  2      oz            Pre-melted chocolate (2 env)
    1/2  c             Milk
  1      ts            Vanilla
  2      c             Flour
    1/2  ts            Baking powder
    1/2  ts            Salt
  1      c             Nuts -- chopped
 36                    Caramels or cherries
                       Frosting:
  1 1/2  c             Powdered sugar
  2      tb            Light corn syrup
  1      oz            Pre-melted chocolate (1 env)
  2      tb            Water -- up to 3 tb, hot

In bowl mix butter, sugar, eggs, chocolate, milk, vanilla. Mix in
remaining ingredients to a soft dough, scraping bowl constantly.
Chill dough 1 to 2 hours. Heat oven to 400°F. Mold dough around
caramel halves or cherries and place on ungreased baking sheet. Bake
about 7 minutes or until set. Cool. Dip in frosting.

Frosting:

In small bowl blend all ingredients. Dip cooled cookies in frosting,
allow to dry.
