     Title: My Mother's Sugar Cookies
Categories: Cookies
     Yield: 45 servings

   1/2 c  Butter
     1 c  Sugar
     2    Eggs
     1 tb Light cream
 2 1/2 c  Flour
     2 ts Baking powder
   1/2 ts Salt
   1/2 ts Nutmeg
     1 ts Lemon juice
   1/2 ts Vanilla

   Cream butter and sugar. Beat in eggs and cream. Add flour sifted with
 baking powder, salt and nutmeg. Then add lemon juice and vanilla, and mix
 well. Chill dough for at least an hour. Roll out thin on a floured board,
 cut with cookie cutters, and bake at 350°F for about 8 minutes until
 golden. Do not let cookies get too brown.   Decorate as desired

 Makes 4-5 dozen

 Eleanor Homeyer: "These are better than ordinary sugar cookies
 because of the flavoring. Decorate with colored sugar, raisins, nuts,
 pieces of candied fruit. It wouldn't feel right to have Christmas come
 before baking sugar-cookie bells, stars, trees and animals for the family."
