MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06

     Title: Meatball Chilli w/Dumplings

     1 lg Egg; beaten
   3/4 c  Onion; fine chopped, divided
   1/4 c  Dry bread crumbs
     5 ts Beef bouillon granules;
          - divided
     3 ts Chilli spice mix; divided
     1 lb Ground beef
     3 tb A-P flour
     1 tb Oil
    28 oz Can diced tomatoes;
          - undrained
     1 cl Garlic; minced
   1/2 ts Ground cumin
    16 oz Can kidney beans; rinsed,
          - drained

MMMMM---------------------CORNMEAL DUMPLINGS--------------------------
 1 1/2 c  Biscuit/baking mix
   1/2 c  Yellow cornmeal
   2/3 c  Milk
          Minced chives; optional

 In a large bowl, combine egg, 1/4 cup onion, bread crumbs, 3 ts
 bouillon, 1 ts chili powder; crumble beef over mixture and mix
 lightly but thoroughly. Shape into twelve 1-1/2" meatballs. Roll in
 flour.

 Heat oil in a 12" cast-iron or other ovenproof skillet; brown
 meatballs. Drain on paper towels. Wipe skillet clean with paper
 towels. Add tomatoes, garlic, cumin and the remaining onion,
 bouillon and chilli powder to skillet; stir to combine. Add
 meatballs. Cover and cook over low heat about 20 minutes. Stir in
 beans.

 Combine dumpling ingredients. Drop by spoonfuls onto chili; cook on
 low, uncovered, for 10 minutes. Cover and cook until a toothpick
 inserted in dumpling comes out clean, 10-12 minutes longer. If
 desired, sprinkle with minced chives.
