     Title: Homemade Ragu Sauce

     Yield: 10 Servings

     1 lb Ground beef
   1/2 lb Ground pork
   1/4 lb Bacon strips; diced
     2 md Onions; chopped
     2    Celery ribs; chopped
     2 sm Carrots; chopped
     4 cl Garlic; minced
     1 c  Dry red wine or beef broth
    28 oz Can crushed tomatoes
    15 oz Can tomato sauce
     2 tb Tomato paste
     2    Bay leaves
     2 ts Sugar
     1 ts Salt
   1/2 ts Dried thyme
   1/2 ts Dried oregano
   1/2 ts Ground cumin
   1/2 ts Nutmeg
   1/2 ts Pepper
   1/2 c  Heavy whipping cream
     2 tb Butter
     2 tb Fresh parsley; minced
   1/2 c  Parmesan cheese; grated
          Cooked pasta; hot

 In a Dutch oven, cook the beef, pork, bacon, onions, celery, and
 carrots over medium heat until meat is no longer pink; drain. Add
 garlic; cook 2 minutes longer. Add wine; cook until liquid is
 reduced by half, 4 to 5 minutes.

 Stir in the tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, bay leaves,
 sugar, and seasonings. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer,
 uncovered, until thickened, stirring occasionally, 1-1/2 to
 2 hours.

 Discard bay leaves. Add the cream, butter, and parsley; cook
 2 minutes longer. Stir in cheese. Serve with pasta.
