1. A spoonful of vinegar added to the cooking water of cauliflower
keeps the vegetable white and the air fresh.
2. Catsup and other condiments will last longer if you add
1 ts of vinegar to the bottles.
3. Keep hard-boiled eggs from cracking by adding vinegar to the
cooking water.
4. Prevent peeled, raw potatoes from discoloring by adding
1 tb of vinegar to the soaking water. They'll stay white for a
few days in the refrigerator.
5. Keep poached eggs from separating in the cooking water by adding
a few drops of vinegar.
6. Adding 3 ts of vinegar to the water when cooking dried beans will
make them more tender--and you won't suffer from gas after you
eat them.
7. Canned fish, such as shrimp, will taste less fishy and much
fresher if you soak it in a mixture of 2 ts sherry and 2 tb
vinegar.
8. Soak frozen fish in vinegar and water for a fresher, sweeter
flavor.
9. Cut the salt taste of boiled ham by adding a splash of vinegar to
the water.
10. Sprinkle fresh fruit with sugar and vinegar for a sweeter,
fresher taste. To make a really special dessert, cut up fresh
fruit and add vinegar and sugar to taste. Let it sit for a few
hours for a sweet and tasty syrup.
