MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06

     Title: Mushroom Pear Melts

     Yield: 4 Servings

     2 tb Butter
     4 c  Fresh shiitake or baby
          - portobello mushrooms;
          - sliced
   1/2 ts Salt
   1/4 ts Pepper
     8 sl Whole wheat bread; toasted
     2 lg Ripe Bosc pears; thin
          - sliced
     8 sl Provolone cheese

 Heat broiler. In a large cast-iron or other heavy skillet, heat
 butter over medium-high heat. Add mushrooms; cook and stir until
 tender, 5 to 7 minutes. Stir in salt and pepper.

 Place toast slices on a rack of a broiler pan. Top with mushrooms;
 layer with pears and cheese. Broil 3 to 4" from heat until cheese
 is lightly browned, 2 to 3 minutes.
