     Title: Linguine With Pesto Kissed Tomato Sauce
Categories: Pasta
     Yield: 4 Servings

     1 tb Olive oil -OR-
   1/4 c  Water
     1 sm Onion; chopped
     2 cl Garlic; minced
   1/4 c  Tomato paste
    28 oz Can crushed tomatoes
          Salt
          Black pepper; freshly ground
   1/4 c  Basil pesto
     1 lb Linguine

 Heat the olive oil or water in a large skillet over medium heat. Add
 the onion, cover, and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Add the
 garlic and cook, stirring, until fragrant, about 30 seconds. Stir in
 the tomato paste, crushed tomatoes, and salt & pepper to taste.
 Reduce the heat to low and simmer to reduce slightly and blend the
 flavors, 10 to 15 minutes.

 As the sauce simmers, bring a large pot of salted water to a boil
 over high heat. Cook the linguine, stirring occasionally, until al
 dente.

 Drain the pasta and place in a large, shallow serving bowl. Blend the
 pesto into the sauce, add it to the pasta, and toss to coat evenly.
 Serve hot.
