                          LIGHT ALFREDO PASTA

                       ** SAUCE **
  1      small         onion, -- diced
  1                    garlic clove, -- minced
  2      teaspoons     vegetable oil
  2      cups          skim milk
  1      cup           chicken broth
  3      tablespoons   flour
    1/2  teaspoon      salt
    1/2  teaspoon      coarse black pepper
    1/2  cup           grated Parmesan cheese
                       ** PASTA **
  1      pound         penne or other pasta
 16      ounces        broccoli florets

Cook onion, and garlic clove in vegetable oil over medium heat until
golden.  Mix skim milk, chicken broth, flour, salt and pepper; stir into
onion mixture until thickened.  Stir in cheese.  After pasta has cooked 9
minutes add broccoli to cooking water.
