5 Bratwurst sausage links
1 ts Butter
1 lg Onion; thinly sliced
14 oz Can sauerkraut
1/3 c Thousand island salad
- dressing
1/3 c Coarsely ground mustard
5 Hoagie rolls (dark rye, if
-possible); split
5 sl Swiss (Emmenthaler) cheese
Cook bratwurst. Keep warm. In aluminum foil pan on grill grate or
medium saucepan on stove top, melt butter over medium-low heat.
Cook onion, stirring often, about 10 minutes until caramelized and
light golden brown. Warm sauerkraut in separate pan.
In medium bowl, stir dressing and mustard until blended. Spread
about 2 tb sauce on roll. Add cheese, onion, and bratwurst. Top
with sauerkraut. Serve warm.
