1 1/2 lb Lean ground beef
1/4 c Dry bread crumbs
1 sm Onion; chopped (about 1/4 c)
1 Egg
1 ts Worcestershire sauce
1/2 ts Dried basil leaves
1/4 ts Pepper
1/8 ts Garlic salt
6 tb Cottage cheese; creamed
- small curd
1/4 c Parmesan cheese
8 oz Can tomato sauce
6 sl Mozzarella or Swiss cheese
Mix ground beef, bread crumbs, onion, egg and seasonings. Shape
mixture into 12 thin patties. Top each of 6 patties with 1 tb
cottage cheese, spreading to within 1/2" of edge; sprinkle with
2 ts parmasan cheese. Cover each with a remaining patty, sealing
edges firmly. Cook patties in large skillet over medium-high heat,
until brown, turning once; drain. Pour tomato sauce over patties;
cover and simmer 15 minutes. Place a cheese slice in each patty;
cover and heat until cheese is melted, about 2 minutes. Serve sauce
over patties.
