     Title: Red Cabbage German-Style

     Yield: 12 Servings

     1    Red cabbage; shredded
     1 sm Onion; minced
          Salt
   1/2 c  Raisins
   1/2 c  Golden raisins
          Vinegar
          Brown sugar

 Set the cabbage and onion to stew with some salt over low heat.
 When somewhat tender, add the raisins (the choice of fruit was
 dependent on what was old but not moldy in the larder). Add vinegar
 and cook until tender. Correct seasoning with brown sugar and salt
 as desired.
