                          Sugar-Crusted Apples

  6      lg            Cooking apples
    1/3  c             All-purpose flour
    2/3  c             Sugar
    1/2  ts            Ground cinnamon
    1/3  c             Butter -- softened
  1                    Egg -- slightly beaten
    3/4  c             Orange juice
                       Whipped cream

Core and peel apples. Combine flour, sugar, and cinnamon; cut in
butter with 2 knives or a pastry blender until mixture resembles
coarse cornmeal. Brush apples with egg, and roll each in flour
mixture. Arrange apples in a greased, shallow baking pan; fill
cavities of apples with any remaining flour mixture. Pour orange
juice into pan; bake, uncovered, @ 350 F for 1 hour or until apples
are tender. Serve warm with pan liquid; top with whipped cream.
