                           Chocolate Pan Cake

                       Cake:
    1/2  c             Butter
    1/2  c             Vegetable oil
  3      tb            Cocoa
  1      c             Water -- cold
  2      c             Sugar
  2      c             Plain flour
    1/2  ts            Baking soda
  1      ts            Vanilla
  2                    Eggs
    1/2  c             Buttermilk
                       Icing:
    1/2  c             Butter
  3      tb            Cocoa
  6      tb            Buttermilk
  1      ts            Vanilla
  3 1/2  c             Powder sugar (1 lb) -- sifted

Cake:

Put the butter, vegetable oil, cocoa, and water in a pot and bring to
a boil.

Using a mixer, combine the sugar, flour, baking soda, vanilla, eggs,
and buttermilk in a large bowl.

Pour hot mixture in to the bowl and mix well.

Pour mixture in to a greased 9x13" pan and bake for 1 hour at 300 F.

Icing:

Put the butter, cocoa, and buttermilk in a pot and bring to a boil.

Remove from heat and add the powdered sugar and vanilla.

Mix well.

Pour over cake.
