                              Apple Crisp

 Amount  Measure       Ingredient -- Preparation Method

  4      md            Tart apples (4 c) -- sliced
    2/3  c             Brown sugar -- up to 3/4 c, packed
    1/2  c             All-purpose flour
    1/2  c             Oats
    1/3  c             Butter -- softened
    3/4  ts            Ground cinnamon
    3/4  tsp           Ground nutmeg

Heat oven to 375 F.  Arrange apples in greased square 8x8x2" pan.
Mix remaining ingredients; sprinkle over apples.  Bake until topping
is golden brown and apples are tender, about 30 minutes.

Serving ideas: Serve warm with cream or ice cream.

Apricot Crisp:

Substitute 2 cans apricot halves (17 oz ea); drained, for the apples,
and use the lesser amount of brown sugar.

Cherry Crisp:

Substitute 21 oz can cherry pie filling for the apples, and use the
lesser amount of brown sugar.

Peach Crisp:

Substitute 29 oz can sliced peaches, drained, for the apples, and use
the lesser amount of brown sugar.

Pineapple Crisp:

Substitute 2 cans pineapple chunks (13 1/2 oz ea), drained, or 2 cans
crushed pineapple (20 oz ea), drained, for the apples, and use the
lesser amount of brown sugar.
