                          German Chocolate Pie

  4      oz            German sweet chocolate
    1/4  c             Butter
 12      oz            Evaporated milk
  1 1/2  c             Sugar
  3      tb            Corn starch
    1/8  ts            Salt
  2                    Eggs
  1      ts            Vanilla extract
  1                    Unbaked deep dish pie shell
  1 1/2  c             Coconut
  1      c             Pecans -- chopped

In a saucepan, combine chocolate and butter. Melt over low heat.
Remove from the heat and blend in milk; set aside. In a mixing bowl,
combine sugar, corn starch, and salt. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Blend
in melted chocolate; pour into pie shell. Cpombine coconut and
pecans; sprinkle on top of pie. Bake at 375 F for 45 minutes. I have
left out the coconut on occasion when some of my kids didn't like it.
Believe me, this disappears fast.
