                       Chocolate Crinkle Cookies

 Amount  Measure       Ingredient -- Preparation Method

  2      cups          flour
    1/4  cup           cocoa
  1 1/2  teaspoons     baking soda
    1/2  teaspoon      salt
  1      cup           brown sugar
    3/4  cup           butter or shortening
  1                    egg
    1/4  cup           corn syrup

Mix flour, cocoa, baking soda, and salt.  Set aside.  Cream sugar, shortening
and egg thoroughly.  Blend in corn syrup.  Add blended dry ingredients.  Mix
well.  Shape dough into 1" balls.  Dip half of each ball in water, then in
granulated sugar.  Place balls sugar side up on ungreased baking sheets.
Bake at 350 for 12-15 minutes.  Remove from baking sheets immediately.
Makes about 3 1/2 dozen.
