                          Butterscotch Oaties

  6      oz            Butterscotch bits
  2      tb            Water -- boiling
  2      c             Rolled oats -- uncooked
    1/2  c             Sugar
    3/4  c             Margarine
  1      ts            Baking soda
  1      c             Flour -- sifted
  1      ds            Salt

Preheat oven to 350 F. Combine butterscotch bits and margarine; melt
over boiling water. Remove from heat. Dissolve baking soda in 2 tb
boiling water, add to the butterscotch mix. Gradually blend in
remaining ingredients. Drop by slightly rounded teaspoonfuls onto
ungreased baking sheet. Bake about 10 minutes, cool on wire rack.
