                          Chocolate Chip Drops

 Amount  Measure       Ingredient -- Preparation Method

    1/4  cup           butter or margarine,softened
  3      oz            cream cheese,softened
    1/2  cup           sugar
    1/4  cup           packed light brown sugar
  1                    egg
    1/2  tsp           vanilla extract
  1 1/3  cup           all-purpose flour
    1/4  tsp           soda
    1/2  tsp           salt
  1      cup           semi-sweet chocolate chips
    1/4  cup           drained chopped maraschino sherries
 36                    cherry halves

Preheat oven to 375.

Cream butter,cream cheese,sugar,brown sugar,egg,
and vanilla in mixer bowl until light and fluffy.

Combine flour,soda, and salt in small bowl.  Add to
creamed mixture,mix well.  Stir in chocolate chips and
chopped cherries.

Drop by rounded teaspoonfulls onto ungreased cookie
sheet.  Top each cookie with a cherry half.

Bake for 8 minutes or just until set.  Remove immediately
to wire rack to cool.

Yield 3 dozen
