     Title: Lemon Slices With Coconut Topping
Categories: Bars, Cookies
     Yield: 16 Servings

MMMMM----------------------------BASE---------------------------------
     1 c  Velvet cake and pastry
          - flour; sifted
     2 tb Icing sugar
   1/2 c  Butter

MMMMM--------------------------FILLING-------------------------------
     1 lg Apple; grated
     1    Lemon; juice &
          - grated zest of
     1 ts Butter

MMMMM--------------------------TOPPING-------------------------------
     1 tb Butter; melted
     2 c  Shredded coconut
     1    Egg
   3/4 c  Sugar

 Blend together base ingredients with fingers. Pat firmly into greased
 8" square pan. Bake at 300 F for 20 minutes.

 Combine apple, lemon, and butter and stir over low heat until
 thickened.

 Topping:

 Beat egg and add sugar gradually. Add melted butter and coconut.
 Spread filling on partially-baked base. Cover with topping. Bake in
 oven turned up to moderate, 350 F. Cool thoroughly and cut in
 squares.
