     Title: Toffee Bars  # 2
Categories: Cookies, Chocolate
     Yield: 1 servings

     1 c  Butter or margarine
     1 c  Brown sugar
     1 ts Vanilla extract
     1 ts Maple extract (optional)
     2 c  Flour
          Sift after measuring
          A dash of salt
     1 oz Semi-sweet chocolate bits
     1 c  Coarsely chopped walnuts
          Or pecans

Cream butter, sugar and flavorings thoroughly in large
bowl of electric mixer. Add flour and salt; mix well.
Stir in chocolate bits and nuts and spread in ungreased 15
 x 10 x 1-inch jelly-roll pan.  In spreading dough in pan,
be sure that edges of dough are slightly thicker than in
center; when edges are thin, they tend to brown more
quickly than rest of dough.  Bake at 325 for 25 minutes, or
 until lightly browned.
While warm, cut in 1x2-inch bars and cool in pan. These
are delicious cookies, remaining crisp in an airtight tin.
