                           Jewish Apple Cake

  5      lg            Tart apples
  2 1/2  tb            Cinnamon
  7      tb            Sugar
  4      lg            Eggs
  3      ts            Baking powder
  1      ts            Salt
  3      c             Flour
  1      c             Cooking oil
  2 1/2  c             Sugar
    1/4  c             Orange juice
    3/4  c             Pecans

Peel the apples, slice thinly. Mix well with cinnamon and 7 tb sugar,
covering apples well. Set aside. Mix other ingredients well. Add
nuts. Into a well greased tube pan, pour half the batter. Add half
the apples, then the remaining half of the batter, and the rest of
the apples on top. Bake for 1 hour and 45 minutes. Begin checking
after the first hour. Let cool in pan for 20 minutes.
