1 1/2 cups sugar
2/3 cup shortening
2 each eggs
1 cup bananas -- mashed
4 Tablespoons sour milk
2 cups flour -- sifted
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup walnuts -- chopped
1 teaspoon vanilla
Cream sugar and shortening. Add eggs, mashed bananas and sour milk.
Sift flour, soda and salt and add to mixture. Add nuts and vanilla.
Bake @ 350F for 30 minutes or till cake leaves side of pan.

NOTES : To make sour milk: Add vinegar to milk to make it curdle.
Cake pan can be greased and floured or just sprayed with Pam Spray.
This recipe has been in my family for 6 generations and is always requested
for birthdays. It has a very thick batter.
