1. Introduction
##############################################################################

Greetings, program! Welcome to my FAQ/Walkthrough for TRON Evolution: Battle
Grids for the Nintendo Wii. This game was part of a suite of TRON Evolution
video game releases in late 2010, made in conjunction with the December 2010
release of the motion picture "TRON Legacy", the sequel to the 1982 cult
classic "TRON".

After 17 years of being on GameFAQs, I decided it was finally time to be a
good user and contribute! So I looked up games that a. I completed 100% and
b. Lacked FAQs, and settled on this one. And what better way to summarize my
love for video games than with a FAQ about a video game about a video game!
Yes, that's a real sentence. It's my first ever FAQ, so please bear with me
and excuse any mistakes you might see.

In this FAQ, you'll find an overview of each mode in the game, strategy tips
for winning game modes, a walkthrough of the story, and other statistics and
information that should prove useful. Hope you enjoy!

2. GRID GAMES
##############################################################################

Being a multiplayer-focused game, it makes sense for this to be listed
first. Grid Games are where you can play individual events against either
human opponents or CPUs. Games may be played in either Free-for-All mode
where there is only one winner, or Team Play where you pair up to defeat
your opponent. Note that Light Cycle Race and Runner Race are unavailable
for Team Play.

There are seven events to choose from. In each of the following sections,
you'll find an overview of each mode, the arenas for each mode, equipment
stats for each mode, and finally strategy tips for each mode.


==========|| 2A. Light Discs ||==========

DESCRIPTION: Derezz opponents by striking them with a light disc. Keep
moving on the changing grid to avoid enemy discs.

Light Discs has 2 subcategories to choose from:

--Battle - Derezz opponents to score points.

--Grid Capture - Capture open grids, derezz your opponents to make their
grids vulnerable.

Advanced options include Score Limit, Time Limit, Level Reform (how often
the level changes) and randomization of either disc type or what arena you
play in.

LIGHT DISC ARENAS:

Tron's Dojo - An isosceles trapezoid-shaped room with a permanent raised
platform against the wall in the back. The squares in the arena will raise
up and down in groups in many different combinations and represent up to 5
different levels at once.

Pistons - Very similar to Tron's Dojo, except there is no permanent platform
in the back, and the sections that move up and down are now hexagons. The
hexagons will often raise very high individually, as well as raising in
groups.

Tremor - Once again, very similar to Tron's Dojo and Pistons, except there
is once again no platform in the back, and the sections are now triangles.
The platforms will mostly be in groups.

LIGHT DISC STRATEGY: Battle

The key to this game is to aggressively pursue the power-ups as you see them
drop. In terms of power-ups, there are three that you can pick up: Pixel
Fire, which "burns" your opponent, Hyper Disc, which allows you to throw
your Disc at a faster rate, and Recognizer Strike, which hits your opponent
with a beam of energy from above when you hit them with your disc. Bomb Disc
is also a secondary attack that you always have by pressing the 1+2 buttons
at the same time. It hits your opponent with a more powerful attack and
knocks them back. All of these powerups are better than the default disc
throw, so use them whenever possible.

Personally, I think the most effective power-up by far is the Hyper Disc.
Once you get it, you can mash the attack button and wear down your
opponents' health while they are pretty helpless to avoid your onslaught.
Other than that, the biggest key is to always run to the health drops when
you see them. This is not just to regain yourself, but to prevent your
opponent from regaining their health. Make sure to take a defensive posture
if you are low on health by blocking more often. No need to waste a point
taking extra risks.

LIGHT DISC STRATEGY: Grid Capture

This one's simple. Pay no mind to your opponent off the bat. RUSH THOSE
GRIDS! Get as many as you can before they do. Often times, especially
against CPUs, you'll get most of your required points within the first 10
seconds of the game because they're too busy trying to attack instead of
following the object of the game. Once the grids are taken or locked in,
you'll need to a. defend yourself and b. pursue whoever is the next-highest
opponent. If you can derezz someone, their grids are available to collect
again, so it makes sense to go after the biggest fish. Don't get too
aggressive and leave yourself vulnerable because you could lose your
holdings as well. Play smart.


==========|| 2B. Light Cycle Arena ||==========

DESCRIPTION: Force your opponents to crash into the light trail. Score
points by maneuvering your light cycle into the path of other players.

Light Cycle Arena has two subcategories to choose from:

--Battle - Derezz opponents using your light trail to score points.

--Survival - Outlast your opponent on the grid to win rounds.

Advanced options include Score Limit, Time Limit (Battle only), Trail Length
(Battle only), and randomization of either cycle type or what arena you play
in.

LIGHT CYCLE ARENA ARENAS:

Alpha Grid - Oblong octagon with no features except a small mound in the
middle.

Wedge - Same as Alpha Grid, except the arena is round.

Tier 2 - As the name suggests, this arena has two tiers. It is a perfect
circle with a higher outer ring and a lower inner circle. You must drop down
from the outer ring to get to the inner circle, and use the steep mounds in
the inner circle to jump back to the outer ring.

Coliseum - A slightly oval shaped arena with two levels. The lower level
dominates the amount of drivable space and features mounds and ramps to get
back to the upper level. The upper level loops the entire arena as well as a
bridge that cuts through the middle of the arena. The bridge has support
beams that extend into the lower area, creating freeway overpass-style nooks
on the lower level.

LIGHT CYCLE ARENA STRATEGY: Battle

This is honestly the most difficult game to articulate a strategy for. It's
not like there's powerups or a sure-fire way to derezz someone. You kind of
have to just play the game like they do in the movies, by accelerating ahead
of someone and cutting them off. The best advice to give is to be very ready
to jump, because that is a sure-fire way to escape trouble. Also, suiciding
into a wall or your own trail is better than dying in someone else's trail
because it doesn't give your opponent points, so pick the wall or your own
trail if dying is inevitable and you have a choice. If you're feeling really
down on your luck against CPUs, you can try driving in a pattern (such as a
zig-zag or a large circle) and just surviving until someone runs into your
trail eventually.

LIGHT CYCLE ARENA STRATEGY: Survival

Perhaps the easiest mode to cheese in the game by its very nature. All you
need to do is head towards the outer wall of the arena and drive along it
while your opponents kill themselves. The wall will provide a natural
direction for you to drive and will ensure you won't run into your own trail
(as long as you drive inside of your trail). Just keep driving along that
wall, and winning is brain-dead easy. It may not be so easy if your human
opponents discover what you are doing, but it could earn you some cheap wins!


==========|| 2C. Light Cycle Race ||==========

DESCRIPTION: Cross the finish line first while avoiding the light trails left
by your opponent's light cycles. Eliminate enemies by forcing them to cross
your light cycle's trails.

Light Cycle Race has two subcategories to choose from:

--Race - Race through the track and cross the finish line.

--Slalom - Pass through the gates for bonus time and get to the end of the
track.

Advanced options include Finish Timer, Toggle Trails on/off, Toggle Race
Assist on/off, and randomization of either cycle type or what arena you play
in.

LIGHT CYCLE RACE ARENAS:

Trenches - A fairly featureless course through the outskirts of Tron City
with few gradiants and few sharp turns. Speed pads are abundant and slow pads
are rare. Has a couple of jumps that are easy to make.

Hyper Canyon - A course through the Outlands with several instances of
branching paths that quickly come back together. The only one that could
really be considered a shortcut is about 2/3rds of the way through the
course, where the path branches steeply right. Otherwise, your choice on path
doesn't matter much. There are also rocks occasionally embedded in the track,
as well as areas where you are able to go off-road. Avoid the rocks and stay
on the path to maintain your top speed.

Traffic - A much tougher course through downtown Tron City marked with long
straightaways and sharp turns. To avoid crashing on those turns, you will
need to either slow down or execute a drift - I recommend the drift. The
straightaways will feature multiple levels, dipped areas that will end with
jump ramps, and cross traffic that can derezz you. Jump over the traffic as
you see it coming up. Toward the end, you will enter a series of separated
ramps that will lead to the finish line. Keep hitting the speed pads to
maintain a high speed and clear the gaps between ramps without needing to
actually jump.

Underfoot - A slightly longer course through the underworld of the grid. It
starts off simple with easy turns, but soon opens up into a massive area with
many different floating tracks at different levels that you can reach with a
ramp. Where you land can determine the number of speed pads and slow pads
you'll see - the higher the path, the better. Once that section is over, the
track will simplify again into a section with bumpy side edges of the track,
so stay in the middle of the track to maintain speed. At this point we're a
little over halfway done with the track and we reach the only shortcut off to
the left. If you take it, prepare to jump over 3 barriers or else you'll
derezz and respawn on the main path. Next up are these energy tower things
dotting the track that you just need to not drive into, and finally you'll go
up a large ramp into the last straightaway to the finish.

LIGHT CYCLE TYPES: See Light Cycle Arena above for cycle stats.

LIGHT CYCLE RACE STRATEGY: Race

Light Cycle Races are fairly easy to win. Much like any other racing game,
you need to maintain your top speed as often as possible and die as little as
possible. To do this, keep doing wheelies for an extra speed boost while you
are on straightaways. These will drain the meter in the lower right, but you
can refill those on speed pads throughout the course. You can also drift to
make sharp turns a little easier, and as a bonus you'll see a little boost
when you come out of your drift. And if you haven't guessed slow pads are
bad, so avoid those or jump over them.

In terms of dealing with other racers, get out ahead of them and derezz them
if they are too close for comfort. My favorite way to do this is to bump my
light cycle over using left or right on the D-pad. This creates a sudden
little wall on the track that they have to dodge and it's usually very
effective. Don't go too far out of your way to hurt anyone though, as your
main focus should be on taking good turns and maintaining your speed.

LIGHT CYCLE RACE STRATEGY: Slalom

You'll need to play this one by ear as you race it. Given that the game
rubber-bands your opponents (keeps them in contention even if you are doing
well), it's pretty difficult to build a significant lead over anyone. So
because of this, you'll need to hit about as many gates as they do to have a
chance at winning. So you won't be able to totally avoid gates even if you
are a very slick racer. Hit all the gates that are manageable and make sure
your opponent isn't greatly outpacing you to have a shot at winning.


==========|| 2D. Grid Tanks ||==========

DESCRIPTION: Play in up to four-player top-down tank combat! Destroy enemy
tanks while navigating challenging obstacles and avoiding enemy fire.

Grid Tanks has three subcategories to choose from:

--Battle - Derezz opponents to score points.

--King of the Hill - Control the hill to score points.

--Grid King - First derezz gets the crown, hold the crown to score points.

Advanced options include Score Limit, Time Limit, number of Starting Mines,
number of Extra Ricochets, toggle Health Regeneration on/off, toggle
Self-Derezz Penalty on/off (Battle only), and randomization of either tank
type or what arena you play in.

GRID TANK ARENAS:

Initiation - Straightforward, no gimmicks.

Crusher - Has a two large walls in the middle that can come together at
intervals to crush tanks in the middle or push tanks off the edge.

Smog - Destructable boxes frequently spawn to segment off areas of the arena,
providing a temporary defense from some attacks.

Timing - Indestructable walls will temporarily spawn in certain locations at
an interval. This can block tank sightlines and force longer range attacks.

Envoy - Has two conveyer belts running in opposite directions horizontally
right in the middle of the arena. If you're not careful they can carry you
right off the edge. Don't stay on those conveyers too long.

Slider - Has patches of slick terrain which cause your tank to slide even
after stopping, as well as an instant-derezz electrified barrier running
vertically through the middle. Make sure to pay attention to your tank's
momentum and position.

GRID TANK STRATEGY: Battle

A rule of thumb I like to have in Grid Tanks is to always be moving. Moving
is your greatest defensive measure, as it makes it much, much harder for your
opponent to get a shot on you.

In terms of offense, there four types of attacks you can use: ricochet (tap
B), missile (short hold B), mortar (long hold B), and mines (power-up). I
generally avoid using ricochet because it is by far the weakest attack, as
well as being slow. If you have your opponent in your line of sight, you
should spam missiles as they are fast and powerful. If you are kept at a
distance from your opponent, use mortars and don't forget to shoot where they
are going, not where they are. Mines are fine but unless you are playing
4-player free for all, there generally isn't enough action to make them
worthwhile. Don't forget to retreat and wait for your health to regenerate
(or pick up a health power-up) if you are nearly derezzed.

GRID TANK STRATEGY: King of the Hill

Like other non-deathmatch modes, you should play to the object of the game.
In this case, going after the hill should be your primary concern. It's the
only way to gain points and win. Don't be afraid to abandon the hill and
recover if your health is very low, as that will ultimately take less time
than derezzing and respawning will. The hill moves anyway, so sacrficing the
hill short term can give you a leg up on the next hill.

GRID TANK STRATEGY: Grid King

Grid king is like a game of tag, except all but one player are "it". You need
to avoid being "it" for as long as possible after becoming king with a kill.
Keep moving, no matter what, as there is no real place to hide. It also helps
to keep shooting as it can get players off your back. Play defensively and
you'll score a lot of points.

==========|| 2E. Runner Arena ||==========

DESCRIPTION: Try to blast your opponents while speeding through rough terrain
on your light runner. Avoid enemy weapon attacks while seizing chances to
blast them first.

Runner Arena has two subcategories to choose from:

--Battle - Derezz opponents to score points.

--Waypoints - Drive through waypoints to score points.

Advanced options include Score Limit, Time Limit, toggle Self Derezz Penalty
on/off (Battle only), and randomizaton of either runner type or what arena
you play in.

RUNNER ARENA ARENAS:

Pinwheel - Round arena with flat walls and several very large hills in the
middle. Hills can make it hard to get a clean shot on opponents, but offer
opportunities to gain air.

Crater - Oval-shaped arena with ramped walls and numerous small-to-medium
sized hills in the middle. Once again, the hills can make your shots
difficult, but also allow you to jump and create new firing opportunities.

Corkscrew - Donut-shaped arena with ramped walls that tapers into a tunnel in
one direction before opening up again into a wider basin. Tunnel can be used
to get the high ground on players fighting below or to flee a pursuer.

Bonus Grid - Identical to Light Cycle Arena's Alpha Grid. Oblong octagon with
no features except a small mound in the middle.

RUNNER ARENA STRATEGY: Battle

I personally find it pretty difficult to play this mode "on the run". Trying
to shoot at someone while bouncing over hills does not seem very effective,
as your shots rarely hit the target. Instead, I like to lay back and shoot at
opponents while sitting still or moving very slowly from a good vantage
point. If you can get a good firing line on an opponent, their health will be
gone in a matter of seconds and you'll get a point. Repeat while avoiding
pursuits and you should win.

RUNNER ARENA STRATEGY: Waypoints

Keep this one simple. Rush, rush, rush the waypoints. Don't even worry about
attacking other runners unless you are losing or they are literally right in
front of you. Go after the object of the game and you have a really good
chance of winning. The CPUs in this game do not pursue the waypoints as
aggressively as you can, so winning is very possible even to inexperienced
players.


==========|| 2F. Runner Race ||==========

DESCRIPTION: Race and fight your opponents on off-road tracks. Avoid
obstacles and enemy fire wile uising your weapons to destroy opponents.

Runner Race has two subcategories to choose from:

--Race - Complete laps and cross the finish line.

--Circuit King - Pass through checkpoints as king to score points.

Advanced options include Score Limit (Circuit King only), Finish Timer, Laps
(Race only), toggle Trails on/off, and randomization of either runner type or
what arena you play in.

RUNNER RACE ARENAS:

Mountainside - A peanut-shaped track that dips downward through caves inside
a mountain before emerging outside and gradually climbing up the side of the
mountain. When you emerge outside, look to the right for a branching path, as
this will take you on a slightly shorter turn. Be warned that you will need
to make a jump in order to get to this path though.

Slopes - An H-shaped track with rock obstacles in an area, several unfenced
areas, and banked walls on hard turns. There's a fairly obvious shortcut near
the beginning of the lap - take the right-side path when the track branches
to get a slightly shorter turn.

Plateau - An A-shaped track with large rock obstacles that you can jump on
top of, one large banked turn, a two-tiered area, and a large flat area near
the end of the lap. The shortcut is near the beginning of the lap - look to
the right and you'll see a huge ramp. Make sure to have some speed or else
you won't make it across.

RUNNER TYPES: See Runner Arena above for runner stats.

RUNNER RACE STRATEGY: Race

The thing about Runner Race is that it's all about rubber-banding. If you
don't know, rubber-banding is the video game concept of giving the loser of a
match an advantage so that they can catch up again and keep the match
competitive. The game stops you from getting too far apart and snaps you back
together, like a rubber band. Think about the invincibity star in Mario Kart,
for example. So in this mode, it's extremely hard to ever out-race your
opponent just through taking good turns and playing defensively. It just
won't happen because your opponent will always be able to shoot at you from
behind and drain your health until you derezz

The leader has very little in terms of defensive aids aside from a temporary
shield powerup, a mine drop powerup, and their light trail. A derezzed
opponent will also never spawn too far away from the leader either, and will
have a re-filled "ram" meter, which is basically a boost meter. So you will
constantly be in a fight in this mode, and it'll take a bit of luck to win as
it often comes down to who derezzes who last. The only advice I can give is
to always attack your opponent whenever you are able to, pick up items on the
track, and always use your ram meter. That meter should never be full or else
you are just wasting speed. Be fast and aggressive and you should win races
fairly often.

RUNNER RACE STRATEGY: Circuit King

In this mode, one player will be crowned "king", and if that king passes
through a checkpoint on the track, they score a point. The only way to become
king yourself is to derezz the king. This is made easier by the fact that the
king's ram meter does not recharge while they are king, so they are naturally
slower. Knowing these rules, you should obviously always try to be king as
long as possible, as that is the only way to score points. Just like the
standard race, be aggressive towards racers in front of you and use your ram
meter liberally.


==========|| 2G. Hyper Ball ||==========

DESCRIPTION: Face off across floating platforms while you bounce the hyper
ball off the ceiling. Score points by hitting an opponent's platform or the
player themselves! Time your throw to stop the meter as close as you can to
the perfect zone! Once your Hyper Meter is full you can perform a Hyper Shot
by throwing in the hyper zone!

Hyper Ball has two subcategories to choose from:

--Classic - Hit your opponent's platform to score points.

--Hexes - Derezz your opponent's platform.

Advanced options include Best Of, Hyper Meter Fill rate, toggle Hyper
Derezzes on/off, toggle Movement Assist on/off, and randomization of either
scoop type or what arena you play in.

HYPER BALL ARENAS:

Nexus - Cosmetic difference only. This arena is green and you are surrounded
by stands of programs.

Panels - Cosmetic difference only. This arena is blue and you are in a
sunken-in area with stands of programs higher up.

HYPER BALL STRATEGY: Classic

The way to win this game is in your shot placement. After throwing the ball,
but before it bounces off of the ceiling panel, twist the Wii Remote to move
the spot where the ball will land, and use A and B for lobs and volleys. If
you're lucky, you can put it on the opposite side of where your opponent is
where they won't be able to catch it in time. Keep making "good" or "perfect"
meter shots to build up your hyper meter fast, and hit them with a hyper shot
as often as possible, as CPUs won't always be able to catch those.
Defensively, just make sure to manually control your character to get in
position and always be ready for hyper shots - everything is catchable as
long as you are in the right place and your timing is good.

HYPER BALL STRATEGY: Hexes

This mode is pretty similar to classic in terms of strategy. Angle your shots
away from your opponent to get them to miss. The difference in this mode is
that two misses on the same panel will break their platform, and if they are
standing on that platform they'll have to struggle to climb back up or else
they'll fall and lose the match. Sometimes you'll get lucky and win a match
quickly this way. But usually, they'll be able to recover and continue. A
good way to exploit this mode is to break middle panels in order to divide
the arena and make it harder for your opponent to reach shots on the other
side of where they're standing. You can set up an easy win if you do it right.

3. Championship Mode
##############################################################################

Championship Mode is one of the selectable categories in the main menu, so it
gets its own section. The gist of Championship Mode is that it takes the Grid
Games and places them into a larger competition so that players can try to
win across a variety of events, with each event being given equal weight. The
player with the highest overall score by the end of the championship is

You may choose anywhere between 3 and 9 events to play in order. All options
from the basic Grid Games are available to adjust if you so choose. There's
not much else to it, really. It goes without saying that if you wish to be
successful in this mode, you should be well-rounded in all of the various
Grid Games.

4. Story Mode

From the manual:

Enter the Grid as a young program on a quest to become the Game Grids
champion. Explore the expansive world of TRON as you compete in arcade-style
single-player adventures with light discs, light cycles, grid tanks and more!

As you complete quests and rise through the ranks, you'll unlock new
characters, vehicles, and equipment that will help you on your journey.

Your goal is to outlast all other competitors, friendly and hostile, to win
the biggest even in the TRON universe. Grab your light disc, jump on your
light cycle and battle your way to the top as you become the ultimate Game
Grids champion.

Missions will be formatted in the following way:

Mission Name
Where: Description of the location/appearance of mission giver
What: Description of the Grid Game type, against who, what vehicle or
equipment they have, what arena you'll play in, and the object of the game.
REWARD: The number of bits you'll get for winning the mission
UNLOCK: The thing you'll unlock for playing the mission
A description of the scenario will go here at the end.

Flynn (narration): "Traditionally, the game grid championships have been
dominated by one program. Tron.

But since Tron retired from competition, with a perfect record I might add,
the stage is set for a new champion!

Will the Basics and their rising star Blaze continue their winning streak in
this competition? Even without Tron?

Or could this be the first time ever that an ISO takes the title?

Only one thing is for sure. It's all up for grabs here in these Grid Games!

Training Mission
What: Light Cycle Arena - Battle (vs. Quorra [Agile]) @ Coliseum. Score 3
points to win.

You get right into it with a game against Quorra. Score 3 points to beat her.


==========|| 4B. Tron City ||==========

Enter: Tron City

You'll see a cutscene where Quorra congratulates you on your win and walks
away. Bosh and Blaze, two bully-looking Basics also in the Grid Games, bump
into you and try to intimidate you. Quorra comes back to back you up, and the
bullies walk away.

You'll enter a free-roam area. It's a large atrium surrounded by three tiers,
accessable with side ramps. The objectives here are to talk to programs
(optional), collect bits scattered around the area, and begin missions that
place you into Grid Games.

BITS: There are 68 bits in this area. The bits are concentrated along the
back and side walls as well as on the floating platforms in the middle. Jump
while running near-parallel to a wall to begin a wall run. Some bits are high
enough to require a double jump before the wall run. For the bits on the
platforms, wait until the platforms have moved out form their retracted
position before beginning your platform-hopping. The platforms do not move
very often so take your time to collect the bits one by one.

SIDE QUESTS: There are 6 quests to complete in this area. Quests are
represented by green exclamation marks on your map. I will list them in an
order that roughly goes from left to right on the map.

Quest 1: Bit Find
Where: Purple female on 1st tier.
What: Find the bits.
REWARD: 10 bits.
The program has hidden 3 green bits (which count as 5 bits each) around the
area. You can see them on your map so this shouldn't be very hard. One is in
the middle right above the big door, one is on the central floating platform,
and one is along the back wall (do a double-jump into a wall jump to reach
it). You'll earn 15 bits from what you just gathered plus another 10 for
finishing the mission. Easy!

Quest 2: Program Paranoia
Where: Blue male on ground floor, hiding in alleyway on left.
What: Light Discs - Battle (vs. Hue [standard]) @ Pistons. Score 5 points to
win.
REWARD: 30 bits
UNLOCK: Tremor (Arena)
UNLOCK: Light Discs - Grid Capture (Mode)
You'll talk to this paranoid program named Hue who has developed advanced new
disc technologies. He thinks... someone... is going to derezz him for his
tech. He's asking you to train with him. Score 5 points on him to win.

Quest 3: Tankin' the Hill
Where: Green male on top tier near left-rear.
What: Grid Tanks - King of the Hill (vs. Aristo [standard]) @ Envoy. Score 40
points to win.
REWARD: 10 bits
UNLOCK: Slider (Arena)
UNLOCK: Grid Tanks - Grid King (Mode)
This program's name is Aristo and he wants to tell you about tanks. He asks
if you've ever played a King of the Hill match. You, of course, say no, but
you'll give it a try! Score 40 points in the hill to win.

Quest 4: Put me in, Coach!
Where: Purple male on 1st tier near ramp on right.
What: Hyper Ball - Hexes (vs. Baxter [standard]) @ Nexus. Score 6 points to
win or outlast your opponent.
REWARD: 20 bits
UNLOCK: Panels (Arena)
Baxter wants to know if you play Hyper Ball. You say you do, on occasion.
Baxter says he knew it, you just LOOK like a Hyper Ball player! You doubt
what he's saying but you agree to a sparring match so that he can assess your
skills. Score 6 points to beat him or outlast him by derezzing the platform
he's standing on.

Quest 5: Spectator Sport
Where: Blue female on top tier near right-rear.
What: Light Cycle Arena - Battle (vs. Weema [standard] and Tarski [standard])
@ Coliseum. Score 5 points to win.
REWARD: 30 bits
Weema and Tarski are complaining about a boring light cycle match that
they're watching. They decide to go and play their own match and invite you
to come along. Be the first to score 5 points to be them.

Quest 6: Tricks of the Trade
Where: Blue male near the bikes at the far right of the top tier.
What: Light Cycle Race - Race (vs. Chiron [standard], Ayrton [standard], and
Zarek [standard]) @ Underfoot. Come in 1st to win.
REWARD: 20 bits
UNLOCK: Underfoot (Arena)
UNLOCK: Light Cycle Race - Slalom (Mode)
Chiron, Ayrton, and Zarek say that Light Cycle Racing might be the most
challenging Grid Game of all. They invite you to train with them because they
(apparently) really know their stuff. Come in 1st place to win.

Once all six quests are completed in Tron City you will UNLOCK Zuse
(Character).

MAIN QUESTS:

Tron City Final
Where: Quorra, near the right alleyway on the ground floor (Marked with a
star on the map).
What: Light Cycle Race - Race (vs. Quorra [agile] and Zuse [agile]) @
Traffic. Come in 1st to win.
UNLOCK: Tron City (Story Mode Location)
Quorra will go to get you a drink. Meanwhile Zuse comes up and flatters you
for your skill, and asks that you come with him at the request of his
acquaintances. Quorra comes back and asks what's going on. You fill her in
and she says it's okay, you can trust Zuse. You agree to go with him, as long
as Quorra gets to come too. You then leave with the two of them, but you must
beat them in a Light Cycle Race to the next location!


==========|| 4C. Tron's Place ||==========

Enter: Tron's Place

Tron's Place is the second free-roam area. This is smaller area divided into
two areas which I would describe as a "lobby" on the left and a "dojo" on
the right. The two areas are connected via two small doorways on the ground
floor and catwalks on the second floor.

BITS: There are 39 bits to collect in this area. The bits in this area are
not difficult to find nor collect - just make sure to run around all the
catwalks and check around corners.

SIDE QUESTS: There are also no quests here, so just keep speaking to Calchas
(marked as a star on your map) to advance the story.

Zuse has taken you to see the legend himself, Tron! Tron questions your
ability, but you're able to challenge him to prove your worth (note that you
are allowed to delay this challenge until later if you wish to explore
Tron's Place first).

MAIN QUESTS:

Tron's Place Training 1
Where: Tron, in the lobby near the back.
What:Light Disc Battle - Battle (vs. Tron [Tron]) @ Tron's Dojo. Score 5
points to win.
Tron wants to know what your made of. Fight him 1v1 in a standard Disc
Battle. First to 5 points wins.

After you beat Tron, you will finally find out what is really going on. It
turns out that Tron has been looking for a talented ISO to train and
potentially win the Grid Games! He wants someone who all other ISOs can look
up to. He sent Zuse to scout for talented ISOs, and he found you. Tron asks
if you would like to train under Calchas, one of Tron's most respected rival
competitors in past games. You are incredibly flattered and agree at
Quorra's urging. Calchas then asks if you would like to get your training
underway (this is again delayable if you would like to explore Tron's Place
first. Otherwise, you are loaded into free-roam for Tron's Place anyway
after the match. Keep talking to Calchas after every match to advance the
story).

Tron's Place Training 2
Where: Calchas, in the lobby near the back.
What: Light Disc Battle - Grid Capture (vs. System Monitor [standard] and
System Monitor [standard]) @ Tron's Dojo. Score 30 points to win or have the
most points after 3 minutes.
This time, you'll have to play a grid capture variant of Light Discs. You'll
need to capture 30 grids or have the most grids by the end of the time
limit, which is 3 minutes.

Tron's Place Training 3
Where: Calchas, in the lobby near the back.
What: Light Disc Battle - Battle (vs. System Monitor [standard], System
Monitor [standard], and System Monitor [standard]) @ Tron's Dojo.  Score 5
points to win.
Now you'll be put into another standard Disc Battle against more generic
System Monitors. Hasn't Calchas seen enough? Anyway, beat these guys by
scoring 5 points to win.

Tron's Place Training 4
Where: Calchas, in the lobby near the back.
What: Light Disc Battle - Grid Capture (vs. Calchas [Calchas], System
Monitor [standard], and System Monitor [standard]) @ Tron's Dojo. Score 30
points to win or have the most points after 3 minutes.
Alright, one more training session. This time Calchas decides to participate
along with two randos in Grid Capture mode. Same as before, capture 30 grids
or reach the 3-minute mark with the most grids.

Once you have completed all training sessions at Tron's Place and you speak
to Quorra, you will UNLOCK Tron (Character).

Tron's Place Final
Where: Quorra, in the lobby near the back.
What: Light Cycle Race - Race (vs. Quorra [agile] and Calchas [durable]) @
Trenches. Come in 1st to win.
You're driving to the next area, so why not make it a race? Get there first
ahead of Quorra and Calchas.


==========|| 4D. The Boot ||==========

Enter: The Boot

You arrive at The Boot with Calchas and Quorra, and you are introduced to
Kalev. Calchas tells Kalev that it's their mission to train you, and this
upsets Kalev as he is not yet allowed to compete. Kalev walks away in a
huff, and Calchas says he'll be fine since he believes he'll be a great
player and leader one day.

The Boot is the third free-roam area. It is a large square room that appears
to be a mess hall of sorts. In the foreground are tables with a traditional
bar to the left, and in the background there is a circular info desk, with
smaller tables appearing along the walls as well.

BITS: There are 23 bits in this area, and once again the are not difficult
to find. Collect them on top of tables, inside of the circular bar, and
along/behind the large cylinders near the back.

SIDE QUESTS: Much like Tron City, there are 6 quests marked by exclamation
points in this area. I will list them from left to right in a roughly
clockwise order.

Quest 1: Banter
Where: Male with mohawk at the foreground bar to the left.
What: Light Cycle Race - Race (vs. Euler [speed], Fulcrum [durable], and
Talbot [standard]) @ Trenches. Come in 1st to win.
REWARD: 20 bits
Euler wants know if you know how to ride a light cycle. You say yes, but
Fulcrum doesn't believe you. The two of them (plus Talbot) decide to
challenge you to a race. Be the first to cross the finish line to win.

Quest 2: Track Test
Where: Male with goggles staring out the window to the left.
What: Light Cycles Arena - Battle (vs. Tasck [speed], Skordev [durable], and
Ulcmar [agile]) @ Alpha Grid. Score 5 points to win.
REWARD: 20 bits
Tasck is looking for someone to help him test out a few changes that he,
Skordev, and Ulcmar have made to the arena. He asks you if you'd like to
give your thoughts. Score 5 points to win.

Quest 3: Overzealous Fan
Where: Helmeted male sitting alone at a table in the left-rear.
What: Light Discs - Battle (vs. Theseus [standard]) @ Tremor. Score 5 points
to win.
REWARD: 20 bits
You walk up to Theseus asking who's playing out the window. He says it's the
Rasters vs. Vectors, who happen to be the best team in the area. You note
that it looks like the Rasters are actually winning at the moment, but
Theseus gets mad and thinks you're stirring up trouble. He challenges you to
a Disc Battle to prove that you shouldn't mess around with the Vectors OR
their fans. To beat him, score 5 points.

Quest 4: Hidden Talent
Where: Dark-haired female standing behind the circular desk.
What: Hyper Ball - Classic (vs. Pythia [standard]) @ Panels. Score 7 points
to win.
REWARD: 20 bits
UNLOCK: Hyper Ball - Hexes (Mode)
Pythia muses about wanting to get out there and play a few games some day.
She says she's mostly made for her duties behind the desk and that she's
only tried playing a few times. You convince her to go out and play a
friendly Hyper Ball match. Score 7 points on her to win.

Quest 5: Mistaken Identity
Where: Shaggy-hair male standing in front of the circular desk.
What: Tank Battle - Battle (vs. Necker [standard]) @ Initiation. Score 5
points to win.
REWARD: 20 bits
UNLOCK: Grid Tanks - King of the Hill (Mode)
Necker's been asking where you've been. The initiation match for all new
recruits is about to start! Huh? But you're not a... welp, looks like you've
been swept up to compete in this match. Score 5 points to win.

Quest 6: Extra Spot
Where: Male standing with two females towards the very back window.
What: Tank Battle - Team Battle (with Cardinal [durable] vs. Ismena [light]
and Galois [combat]) @ Crusher. Score 10 points to win.
REWARD: 20 bits
UNLOCK: Smog (Arena)
UNLOCK: Grid Tanks: 2v2 Capture the Flag (Mode)
This group of programs was scheduled to have a tank team match, but one of
them didn't show up. You offer to fill in, but you're warned that you better
be good because the other team won't show mercy! You team up with Cardinal
against Ismena and Galois. Your team must score 10 points to win.

Once all six quests have been completed at The Boot, you will UNLOCK Kalev
(Character).

The Boot Challenge 1
Where: Calchas, near the circular desk
What: Light Cycle Arena - Battle (vs. Yosan [speed] and Falda [durable]) @
Wedge. Score 5 points to win.
UNLOCK: Tier 2 (Arena)
Calchas asks if you want to show what you're made of. You'll enter into a
Light Cycle Battle against Yosan and Falda. Score 5 points to win.

The Boot Challenge 2
Where: Calchas, near the circular desk
What: Light Cycle Arena - Survival (vs. Tarski [durable], Theano [agile],
and Thiele [standard]) @ Alpha Grid. Survive 3 rounds to win.
Calchas tells you that wasn't a bad effort... for a warm-up. Time to step up
the challenge. This time you'll go against Tarski, Theano, and Thiele.
Survive 3 rounds to win.

The Boot Challenge 3
Where: Quorra, near the circular desk
What: Hyper Ball - Hexes (vs. Kalev [control]) @ Panels. Score 6 points to
win.
Quorra gets exited at the possibility that you could actually win the whole
thing! But then sourpuss Kalev comes in and tells you you've got no chance.
He wants to see how you'll do against a "real" warrior, which is apparently
him. Hey, at least he's voiced by Robert Atkin Downes. To beat Kaz- er,
Kalev, score 6 points to win.

Speak to Kalev and you'll see a cutscene where he hasn't quite accepted the
loss and walks away frustrated. Calchas says that you're ready for the real
games, but that you better get back to the Game Grids to get ready.

Outlands Race
Where: Quorra, near the circular desk
What: Light Cycle Race (vs. Quorra [agile]) @ Hyper Canyon. Finish in 1st to
win.
UNLOCK: The Boot (Story Mode Location)
UNLOCK: Traffic (Arena)
Speak to Quorra and she agrees that they need to get back to Tron City ASAP.
They decide we should take a shortcut through the Outlands. Finish in 1st to
win.


==========|| 4E. Grid Bug Attack ||==========

Suddenly, you are attacked by grid bugs! You and Quorra careen off of your
light cycles.

Grid Bug Attack
What: Light Discs (with Quorra [standard]) @ Grid Bug Attack. Survive the
waves of grid bugs.
UNLOCK: Grid Bug Attack (Story Mode Location)
This is a unique battle unlike anything else in the game, so I'll describe
it here. You're in a wide arena with elevated platforms to the back left and
right. The bugs have no ranged attack, but they do leap at you and can spawn
pretty much anywhere on the map. Up to 25 or so can be on screen at once.
The key is to just keep moving and spamming your light disc to make sure the
bugs don't get too close to you. You can pick up powerups if you wish. It's
fairly straight forward. After about 5 waves, the level will end.

A cutscene will trigger and it looks like you and Quorra are about to be
overwhelmed by Grid Bugs. Suddenly a hooded man in green driving a 3-wheeled
light runner will come in to save you, pick you up, and speed away.


==========|| 4F. Bostrum Colony ||==========

Enter: Bostrum Colony

You awaken and find yourself in a mysterious place. It turns out this is
Bostrum Colony, and the man who saved you is Gibson (that name should sound
familiar if you've played the PC/PS3/X360 version of Tron Evolution). Quorra
is safe too and is having a look around. You're free to explore, too!

Bostrum Colony is the fourth free-roam area. It is a very large, unusually
shaped area with lots of nooks and crannies, and even pits you can fall into
(don't worry, you don't suffer any negative consequences from falling). The
simplest way to describe the areas would be a control area to the lower
left, a practice arena in the middle, tables and "fingers" that jut out into
nowhere to the lower right, tables and cliffs to the upper right, and the
entryway to the upper left.

BITS: Like other areas, it has bits to collect - 52 in total. Starting in
the upper left, go up all the way to the far left area of the entrance near
one of the quest givers to find a clump of bits. There is a line of bits
along the end of the entrance ramp, and 3 on floating platforms nearby. In
the training area there are 4 more on floating platforms. Go directly south
of that and each of the 4 "fingers" has a line of bits. To the right there
are 4 tables with a pair of bits each. Finally in the upper right you'll see
a number of bits sitting on the cliffs.

SIDE QUESTS: Once again I will be listing the six quests from left to right.

Quest 1: Know it All
Where: Red-haired male far to the left of the entrance ramp, near the light
cycle.
What: Light Cycle Race (vs. Hamilton [speed]) @ Hyper Canyon. Finish in 1st
to win.
REWARD: 30 bits
Hamilton informs you that the key to racing is to memorize secret routes.
You're intrigued, and he offers a race to show you where they are. Beat him
across the finish line to win.

Quest 2: Souped Up Rig
Where: Male with blond mohawk and goggles in the control area to the lower
left.
What: Runner Race - Race (vs. Panos [speed]) @ Mountainside. Finish in 1st
to win.
REWARD: 30 bits
UNLOCK: Runner Race - Circuit King (Mode)
Panos is bragging about his Light Runner that has a souped-up engine. He
offers to race you. Finish in 1st to beat him.

Quest 3: Earn Some Respect
Where: Female with brown bunned hair in the control area to the lower left.
What: Runner Arena - Waypoints (vs. Demas [agile]) @ Crater. Score 10 points
to win.
REWARD: 30 bits
UNLOCK: Corkscrew (Arena)
You ask Demas if there's anything you can do to get rid of the "Outsider"
label from the people who live in the colony. She says their people value
hard work and skill, and showing those traits will prove yourself to them. </pre><pre id="faqspan-2">
She offers to "race" you in order to show off your skills (it's actually
Runner Arena - Waypoints, not technically a race). Score 10 points to win.

Quest 4: Surviving the Survivalists
Where: Male with grey mohawk and goggles standing in the upper middle.
What: Light Cycle Arena - Survival (vs. Nestor [agile] and Johnson
[durable]) @ Tier 2 . Survive 3 rounds to win.
REWARD: 30 bits
Nestor and Johnson heard about how good you are on the Light Cycle, but
wants to know how you are at survival matches. Somehow you're clueless as to
what that is (even though you just did one at The Boot, but I digress) and
they explain what it is to you and offer to play one. Survive 3 rounds to win.

Quest 5: Training Mission
Where: Dark-haired male with a visor sitting at the tables in the upper right.
What: Tank Battle - Team Battle (with Debian [combat] vs. Varignon [light]
and Soroban [durable]) @ Smog. Score 10 points to win.
REWARD: 30 bits
UNLOCK: Timing (Arena)
Varignon calls your attention and asks if you could teach him, Debian, and
Soroban your Light Tank strategies. They're pretty good in other games but
struggle with how to get better at Tanks. You offer to give them some
experience and take them on in a practice match. You team up with Debian
while Varignon and Soroban take the other team. Score 10 points to win.

Quest 6: Warm Welcome
Where: Red-haired male with glasses at the tables in the lower right.
What: Light Runner Arena - Battle (vs. Tasram [agile], Deacon [durable], and
Axelia [agile]) @ Pinwheel. Score 5 points to win.
REWARD: 30 bits
UNLOCK: Runner Arena - Waypoints (Mode)
You come up to Tasram and Deacon wondering where something is, but they're
very rude to you. They think you're there to stir up trouble, so they ask
you to prove yourself in a Light Runners Arena match to earn their respect.
Axelia joins the match as well. Score 5 points to win.

Once all six quests have been completed at Bostrum Colony, you will UNLOCK
Gibson (Character) and you will UNLOCK Bonus Suit B (Body Suit, note that
the splash screen will call it "Survivalist Suit 2")

MAIN QUESTS:

Bostrum Colony Challenge 1
Where: Quorra, near the entrance ramp in the upper left/middle.
What: Runner Arena - Battle (vs. Aetos [durable] and Bevan [agile]) @
Pinwheel. Score 5 points to win.
Quorra is glad to see you're alright, but tells you that they need to get
going in order to make it to the next round of Grid Games. She'll walk away
and you'll need to find her again near Gibson in the control center in the
lower left part of the map. You and Quorra tell Gibson that you'll be on
your way, and Gibson says sure... as soon as you pay for their hospitality.
Pay? But you guys don't have anything to trade! So Gibson says if you beat
their best competitor in a game, he'll call it even. You'll end up facing
Aetos and Bevan in a Light Runner Arena match. Score 5 points to win.

Bostrum Colony Challenge 2
Where: Gibson, near the control center in the lower left.
What: Runner Race - Race (vs. Ghassan [agile], Webster [speed], and Nim
[durable]) @ Mountainside. Finish in 1st to win.
That was a good start, but there's another challenge up ahead. Next is a
Runner Race against Ghassan, Webster, and Nim. Come in 1st place to win.

Bostrum Colony Challenge 3
Where: Gibson, near the control center in the lower left.
What: Runner Arena - Waypoints (vs. Gibson [Outrunner]) @ Crater. Score 10
points to win.
There's just one more hurdle to clear: Gibson himself. Be the first to 10
points to win this match.

Gibson is a man of his word, and he lets you free of your payment
obligations. He'd wish you luck in the tournament, but you don't need it!
Speak to Quorra, who is standing right there, to get on your way back to the
city. This will UNLOCK Bostrum Colony (Story Mode Location) and UNLOCK Bonus
Suit A (Body Suit, note that the splash screen will call it "Survivalist
Suit 1")


==========|| 4G. Grid Games Begin ||==========

You will spawn back at Tron City, and you will need to speak to Bosh, who is
standing near the center of the map. All quests from here on out are main
quests. The Grid Games begin!

Grid Games Challenge 1
Where: Bosh, near the center of the map in Tron City
What: Grid Tanks (vs. Bosh [Bosh]) @ Slider. Score 5 points to win.
Bosh sarcastically says he'll try not to crush you too hard. Prove him wrong
by scoring 5 points on him to win.

A cutscene will play with you, Quorra, and Bosh. Bosh says that you may have
beaten him, but his buddy Blaze will finish you as soon as he's done with
another old geezer... Calchas. Yep, it seems that Calchas came out of
retirement for these games and is facing off against Blaze in a Light Cycle
Race.

Walk over to Quorra near the back wall to watch the end of the Calchas vs.
Blaze race. Calchas is beating Blaze, but Blaze uses a device that derezzes
Calchas' light cycle and leaves him lying helpless on the track. Blaze, being
the evil goon that he is, uses this opportunity to run over Calchas and
derezz him, permanently.

Now speak to Zuse near the same back wall. He says that someone wishes to
speak with you, immediately. You're taken back to Tron's Place, who mourns
over the loss of Calchas. He blames himself for stepping down during these
games, and reiterates his belief that YOU need to win these games not just so
that Blaze doesn't win, but because the ISOs need a hero to look up to.
You're then whisked back to the Grid Games, and you will UNLOCK Tron's Place
(Story Mode Location).


==========|| 4H. Solar Sail Rescue ||==========

Another cutscene will play with you and Zuse walking through Tron City.
Blaze approaches you and makes you an offer: forfeit the rest of your games
or else Quorra dies. Yes, it seems that Quorra has been abducted and is
being held hostage by Blaze. Zuse tells you that you CAN'T let Bosh win, and
even though it might be difficult, you must keep competing. Gibson, who just
so happens to be right there leaning on a wall nearby, tells you that "you
can do both". Hmmm...

Speak to Gibson along the left wall on the top tier. It turns out that
Gibson came back to Tron City to watch you compete, and he saw Bosh kidnap
Quorra. He saw where they went and points you in the right direction. You
thank him and say that's two you owe him, but he shrugs it off and tells you
to just bring her back and become the champ. What a bro.

Solar Sail Rescue
Where: Gibson, along the left wall on the top tier of Tron City.
What: Light Discs @ Solar Sail Rescue. Defeat all of the bad programs and
rescue Quorra.
UNLOCK: Elite Guard (Character)
UNLOCK: Solar Sail Rescue (Story Mode Location)
Like the Grid Bug Attack, this is another unique mission unlike anything
else in the game. You'll need to make your way from one end of the map to
the other, derezzing programs with your light disc along the way. Programs
will derezz much more easily than a typical Light Disc battle, which is nice
considering the volume of enemies. You'll typically face 2 or 3 enemies at a
time. Enemies will drop health and power-ups after they are derezzed, so
make sure to pick those up if you need them.

Once an area is cleared, the enemies will stop spawning and you will see a
star marked on your map that tells you where to go next (it's a linear path,
so it should be pretty obvious). Don't worry if you get derezzed, as you'll
respawn at the start of an area, so there won't be much back-tracking to do.

After four areas, you'll reach the final area with Bosh and Quorra. Bosh has
a lot more armor than his minions, so keep hammering away at him to get his
health down. I like to get him 1v1 and hit him with melee attacks to do
extra damage. Defeat Bosh and the other minions in this final area to
trigger the cutscene. Also, there will also be a whopping 105 bits to
collect along the way. The bits are fairly obvious and out in the open, you
will mainly just need to climb on top of structures to collect them.

Once you clear out the final area, Quorra will derezz the two guards holding
her. She's grateful you saved her, but she's worried that you'll miss your
next match. You tell her that you can still make it!

Back at Tron City, Tron is wondering where you are, and Blaze is pressuring
him to forfeit your game. Suddenly, you and Quorra rush in just in time.
Blaze is beside himself, and you tell him that you're ready to play!

Congratulations, you did it! You begin to celebrate with Quorra, Zuse, and
Tron, but Blaze, being the sore loser that he is, tries to attack you. You
dodge out of the way and he falls on the ground. Tron orders some guards to
take him away, saying that his career is over with. You go back to the
celebration, and Flynn, the creator, is there! He gives you a virtual trophy
for your disc. You are the first ISO champion!

view a profile's Current Rank and Story Mode Progress, as well as the number
of items you have unlocked. Under Customize there are three options: Head,
Body, and Identity.

Accessories (see Items for a full list of accessories).

Body allows you to adjust your Suit, Accessories, and choose Bonus Suit A
and B (see Items for a full list of suits and accessories)

head-to-head profile comparison screen.

Columns include Wins, Losses, Games (total games played), Streak (current
winning streak), and Skill (a number that aggregates those statistics into a
single number and changes based on overall record and inertia, similar to
player skill level in Wii Sports)

As you might expect, this is where you can change settings to the game. This
menu is divided into 5 subcategories (the top four subcategories also each
have a Reset button to change settings back to their default):

a. General Options - AI Difficulty (choose between Easy, Medium, and Hard),
toggle Tutorials On/Off, Watch the Credits.

b. Display Settings - Has a brightness slider with a TRON logo and a
gradiant of squares from white to black. Adjust your brightness until the
darkest square is barely visible.

c. Audio - Adjust your sound mix between Sound Level (general), Music Level,
Voice Over Level, and Crowd Level.

d. Wii MotionPlus - Watch the Wii MotionPlus Instructional Video, Calibrate
Wii MotionPlus, and toggle Wii MotionPlus On/Off.

e. Cheat Code - Pulls up an on-screen keyboard to allow you to type in
codes. See the cheats section for a full known list.

There are a total of 105 unlockables in this game. Unlockables include
characters, discs, bikes, runners, tanks, scoops, arenas, story mode
locations, and customizables for your custom character. Unlockables can be
tracked via a basic counter on the profiles screen or on the story mode
screen. Things are unlocked in two ways - automatically by playing Story
Mode or Multiplayer, or by spending Bits, which is the currency you earn by
playing any mode with your custom character. As some items do not have names
assigned to them, and they are often hard to describe, I will just offer
basic descriptors and their placement.

Also note that CPU characters may use certain locked discs, bikes, tanks,
runners, and scoops against you before you yourself have unlocked them. For
example, facing off against Flynn in the Light Cycle Arena will result in
him using his Flynn light cycle, even if you haven't unlocked that item
yourself.

One more thing of note is the fact that if you decide to re-start story
mode, your story locations will lock again and your counter will go down
from however many you had unlocked before. Play through story mode to
re-unlock them and see them re-added to your counter. This is likely going
to be your prefered method of grinding to get more bits to unlock
everything, so just be aware if you see your unlocks mysteriously decreasing.

Q: What is the difference between this game and the ones on the other
consoles? Why the "Battle Grids" subtitle?

A: So here's the deal, Disney actually made FOUR different games under the
TRON: Evolution title. The "flagship" game was developed by Propaganda Games
for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC (ported to PC by GameStar Ltd).
That's probably the game you've seen and heard about the most. In addition
to that game, there also exists a PSP game developed by SuperVillain
Studios, a DS game developed by n-Space, and a Wii game also developed by
n-Space. These games are NOT just simple ports of the flagship game - each
feature their own unique stories, and in most instances, their own gameplay
as well. They feature many commonalities, of course, such as disc battles
and light cycle races, but most of the time they play a little differently
in each version, and there are exclusive features in each version. Don't ask
me why they did it this way, I know it's confusing as heck. But all you have
to know is that the whole TRON: Evolution experience is spread across four
unique games: PS3/360/PC, PSP, DS, and Wii.

As for why they added the "Battle Grids" subtitle for this game and not the
others?  There are a number of possible reasons. One is that this game has a
stronger focus on the "Grid Games" in its story (well, the PSP version does
too, but I digress). The story is all about working your way up playing the
various Grid Games until you are the greatest champion The Grid has ever
known. Another is that as the Wii was definitely a
family/multiplayer-focused console, and a good deal of attention is focused
on the versus modes of this game, moreso than the other versions, so the
subtitle highlights that.



Q: When does this game take place in the TRON timeline?

A: The timeline, as of 2019, looks something like this. The asterisk (*) is
where this game is at.

Q: I love the Tron: Legacy soundtrack! Are there any music pieces from the
film in this game?

A: Well, there's good news and bad news. The good news is that there IS
music from the movie in the game, which is better than nothing. But the bad
news is that it's limited to two tracks: "The Grid", which plays only during
the title screen, and "Derezzed", which is one of several tracks that will
randomly play during grid games. That's it. I believe that is the case for
all versions of Tron Evolution, actually. I personally was hoping for more,
such as "Rinzler" during light disc or hyper ball matches, or "The Game Has
Changed" during light cycle battles. To give the developers credit, the
original music in this game isn't too shabby. It just doesn't quite hit the
same highs as the Legacy soundtrack, which is a masterpiece.



Q: Is this game any good?

A: You're asking me, the guy who wrote a whole FAQ on this game, to give you
an objective answer? Well, I'll try ;-)  This game is pretty underrated.
Sure, it ain't perfect, but there's fun to be had. I've noticed that gamers
tend to fall into two categories when it comes to motion controls: either
they enjoy them, or they can't tolerate even the slightest bit of
unresponsiveness or inaccuracy and they thumb their noses at them. In terms
of motion-controlled games, this one is actually pretty fair to you. It's
more about gentle tilts and generalized waggles than any precise movement,
which is very forgiving to those who struggle with motion controls.

I think the flaws lie more in its dumb A.I., allowing you to cheese your way
through parts which would otherwise be difficult. The good news is that the
A.I. doesn't really swing the other way and become totally unfair to the
player, except perhaps at optional higher difficulties. In my view, I'd
rather a game be dumb and generous than obnoxious and difficult.

The real fun lies in its multiplayer. This game is a surprisingly great
party game! It has a wide variety of game types with a surprising level of
competency across all modes. Anyway, to sum it up, I've played FAR worse.
This game flew way under the radar compared to its PS3/360/PC cousin and
deserved/deserves more attention. Oh, and it's cheap too (as of 2019, 8+
years after release, it's only a couple of bucks on eBay). If you're a Wii
owner and a Tron fan, pick it up!



Q: Are there multiple editions of this game on Wii? What's the difference?

A: Yes. There were two editions of this game: a general version that most
retailers received, and a "Championship Edition" that was exclusive to Toys
'R' Us. The difference can be noted on both the box art and game disc. From
a gameplay perspective, there is just one difference: the Championship
Edition features an exclusive vehicle - the 3-wheeled Out Runner - unlocked
from the start and usable in all Light Runner gameplay modes. That's it. Not
sure why that necessitated a whole different version of the game, but I
suppose the Wii didn't really do DLC, so this was the only way at the time
to tack on extra content.

There is just one other important distinction between the two editions, and
that is the fact that they use different Title IDs. This is important if you
are looking to import or export a save file. The Title ID for the regular
edition is STRE and the Title ID for the Championship Edition is STRX.
Unfortunately, since they are different, this means that saves between the
two editions are NOT cross-compatible.



Q: I heard there was a special controller that came out along side this game
as well?

A: You are correct! Just like how the PS3 and Xbox 360 received
limited-edition TRON-themed controllers, the Wii received a TRON-themed Wii
Remote as well. The Wii controllers were numbered to just 20,000 total units
(all in the same black color) but had the distinction of being the only
special edition TRON controllers to work wirelessly! The TRON Wii Remotes
featured a button on the inside of the battery cover which could switch the
blue lights on the face of the controller on and off. This of course has the
unfortunate but unsurprising effect of draining the batteries more quickly,
but who wouldn't trade a little battery life for some awesome Tron glow? I
know I would. These controllers are pretty rare and pricey nowadays, so if
you see one that looks affordable to you and you're a big enough TRON fan,
make sure to grab it! And yes, I do have one - no. 04632/20000.
