Introduction
Originally meant as a late release on Gamecube, Super Paper Mario is an odd
(but stylish) RPG/platformer 2D/3D game hybrid (whatever) released on Wii.
The game follows the same art style than the previous Paper Mario games, but
is quite different -- and even funnier (and sometimes downright crazy).
This time around, Count Bleck is trying to take over the world and it's
Mario's duty, once again, to stop his evil plans, with, as always, sidekicks
and even more playable characters to aid him in his quest to collect the 8
Pure Hearts.

Prologue
Flipside Town
After the mirthful introduction, you'll enter in possession of your first
Pure Heart as you reach the intriguing Flipside Town. Tippi will be your
sidekick for now, she can reveal hidden stuff for you. Follow her to the
left and press Up to use the elevator. Once you get to destination, head
right and use the next elevator to go up. On the third floor, go left and
place the Pure Heart into the pillar. Done. Head back to Merlon at the top
of the Tower and he will hand over the Return Pipe. Might come in handy.
All ready to go? Enter the first door.
Chapter 1
Chapter 1-1 ¤ The Adventure Unfolds ¤
Lineland Road
You'll quickly realize the levels are very straightforward and simple, but
regardless, start by heading right and jump on the block to get on the ledge
above the door. After jumping past the pit, head down the pipe across (press
down) to reach a secret area. Open the chest here to obtain a Shroom Shake.
Now leave through the pipe and continue right. Enter the house on your way
and, surprise, it's empty. But wait. Point the wiimote at the screen to
reveal a hidden door. That's when Tippi comes to use. Go through that new
door, then have a chat with Bestovius who'll teach you to flip between
dimensions for whatever money you have on you at the moment (hopefully not
a lot).
Back outside, save at the save block, then press A to flip. In 3D mode,
you'll see three blocks that can't be seen in 2D. One of them contains the
Pal Pills. There's nothing else to get here, so return to that red door you
came across earlier. You can't enter it as is, but try in 3D, and here you
go. Enter the next area. Make your way to the right up to that tall pipe.
Flip to 3D and pick up the hidden Goomba card behind. Then jump on the
second pillar for a Mushroom in the block there. Continue to the pit ahead
and flip back to 2D. Jump on the block in the air, then jump to reach the
line of blocks above.
Go right, get the coins in the blocks, then hit the block all above the
others to get a Happy Flower. When you get to the next large gap, switch
to 3D and walk along the ledge on the left to cross (pic). Take a leap over
the next gap, then head through the door. In the next area, go right and
use the 3D to get the Pal Pills out of the block behind the hill. Hit the
other block for a Slow Flower. At the next hill, flip to 3D and defeat the
enemies behind for a couple of points. Head right an climb up the structure,
then jump to the right an go through the door. In the next area, jump over
the pipes, then continue right an hit the block to get a Mega Star. Run to
the right an crush everything in your way (woo-hoo) for plenty of points.
Then hit the block with the star to end the chapter.
Chapter 1-2 ¤ Afoot in the Foothills ¤
Mount Lineland
Head right at the beginning and start climbing the mountain. Stand on the
peak and let the platforms carry you to the cliff at the right. Head right
again and flip to 3D to spot a blue switch. Press it to grow a new mountain
which you also need to climb up. Use the platform atop this mountain to
reach the door on your right. In the next area, go right and flip to 3D.
Use the blocks in this dimension to reach the area above. Still in 3D,
jump on the blocks, then on the higher line of blocks on the left (pic). At
the very end of this path of blocks, still in 3D, hit the block above to
make a ladder appear. Climb it up, grab all the coins here, then drop down
and head up the hill, using the 3D mode to avoid the falling boulders. Go
through the door at the top to the next area.
Keep going right and head down the pipe on your way. You'll reappear in the
background. Fun fun. Go left and enter the house. Climb upstairs and switch
to 3D to spot this red guy in his bed. Talk to him, then switch to 2D to
bring him along with you. Tell him red's the best color to humor him and
he'll lower the bridge for you. Now head back to that chasm and cross said
bridge to reach a small village.
First, walk to the second house and flip to 3D. Between the second and third
house, there is this block in 2D. In 3D, you can see a pipe is hidden behind
this block. Hop in and collect the few coins. Then head back up and while
in 2D, stand on the block between the houses and leap over to the house on
the left to land on its roof. Then jump on the other rooftops on the right
and grab the Boomboxer card on the rightmost rooftop.
Now, enter the third house and switch to 3D to find another hidden pipe. Hop
in and once down there, use the 3D to sneak past the enemies and go through
the door at the end. In the close room, point the wiimote at the screen
where you can see the star symbol to reveal a door. You'll be locked in the
next room. Open the chest to free Thoreau (which I'll call Thor for purposes
of simplicity) and have him join your party. With him on your team, you can
pick up objects and throw them. Try that now with the white block, stand
right below the blue block in the air and throw the white block to hit it.
This will unlock the door. Head back to the village.
Last thing, enter the last house and talk to the mayor (now that you have
Thor with you). Then back outside, go right and through the pipe to have a
lift into the background. Enter the house on the right and talk to the green
guy to have the bridge useable again. Before leaving, flip to 3D an pick up
the Red and Green card hidden behind the bed. Then finally cross the bridge
outside and get the star from the block to end the chapter.
Chapter 1-3 ¤ The Sands of Yold ¤
Yold Desert
Start by heading all the way right (quite straightforward) until you get to
a larger sand pit with an enemy standing on the blocks above. Flip to 3D and
look around the boulder right before the pit to find a Squig card hidden
behind. Now jump on the blocks above the pit. A purple enemy will be
blocking your way, but no worries. Jump on its head, then quickly cross and
use the 3D to get behind him. Hit the ball at the tip of its tail to defeat
him and get a couple of points. Then head through the door.
In the new area, go to the far right (use 3D to get past the block pillar)
to find a Courage Shell behind a boulder between sand pits. Then backtrack
to that pillar that was blocking your way and slightly before it is a big
boulder. Flip to 3D at that boulder and head straight to the right into a
secret passageway. Follow the path to a monolith. Read the message, then
head back all the way to the start of the level and find the red palm tree.
Jump 10 times while standing in front of it and a door will appear. Go
through it, then in the next area, get on the blocks on the right and use
the spring to take a leap.
Use the platforms here to get a lift across the sand pit. Then continue to
another sand pit. Flip to 3D to spot a narrow path crossing it. So cross it,
then once on the other side, use the spring to get on the platform over the
blue switch. Drop down on the small block on the right, then from there use
Thor and throw him at the blue switch to activate the platforms on the right
and then take a lift from them to get to the other side of the pit. Head
right an through the door. If you want, jump on the save block, then turn
to 3D and jump on the blocks above. In 2D, jump to the left and go down in
the pipe for some coins.
The next area will confront you to O'Chunks. You'll learn his HP is 20 if
you use Tippi and point the wiimote at him (take the habit of always doing
so for bosses). He's quite simple to defeat. When he jumps, runs. When he
runs, jump. You can hit him by jumping on his head right after his attacks
or you can pick him up with Thor and throw him to make him dizzy first.
After this rather easy fight, head through the door to the next area.
Keep going right and defeat the blue cloud-like enemy to obtain a Catch Card
- yay. Then go left and jump on the yellow platforms to reach a door. You'll
find another Yold signpost with a clue. Not very useful, but you can use the
3D to read a clearer indication behind it. Then head back to the previous
area and go right. Use the spring to get on the platforms an reach another
door. In the area here, go right and stand on the blue pedestal. Press - and
1 at the same time to make the star appear. Grab it to end the chapter.
Chapter 1-4 ¤ Monster of the Ruins ¤
Yold Ruins
Head right and through the door. Then go right again and jump on the block
over the fire obstacle. Then hop on the block on the right above and on the
ledge there. Go right and down the ladder to find a chest with a Life
Shroom.
Head back to the door and to the next area. Use the 3D here to get past the
obstacles. At the end of the room, flip to 3D to spot two yellow reversible
blocks. Hit them while in 3D, then back in 2D, you'll notice the blocks have
now changed dimension. Jump on them to reach the door.
In the next room, go up the ladder and open the chest for the Ruins Key. Now
head back to the previous room with the key and backtrack to the middle of
the room where the locked door is. Use the key to unlock it and go through.
Head right in the new area and across the pit. Jump on the top ledge (take
a good leap) and go through the unlocked door. Need a key for the other
door, which we're about to get. In the new room, drop down and pick up an
enemy with Thor. Throw it at the blue switch from a close range an at the
highest point of your jump. It might take a few tries.
The blue switch triggered something, so head back to the previous room and
look over the sand pit. Jump on the blocks above (the highest one) and
throw Thor to grab the key in the middle. Now with that in hand, go back to
the locked door and open it. In the next room, you'll see an unreachable
door in the air. Use Tippi and point the wiimote right below the door to
reveal a hidden ledge. Tippi will make it visible so you can use it to go
through the door. After going through the door, go left and you'll see a
key in the middle of some blocks. Flip to 3D and you'll notice a secret
passage going left into the wall. Go in and grab the key. Simple.
Now go back to the right and past the locked door. Flip to 3D to spot a
passageway leading to a secret room in the corner. Open the chest there for
a Buzzy Beetle card. Now that you have that, open the locked door with the
key and head into the next room. Jump on the spring and get in the alcove
on the left. Switch to 3D to find a ladder. Climb it up, then go right and
press the blue switch. Hurry to the left and press the red button. Jump
down in the pit where the boulders fell in and head through the door.
The following room has a simple puzzle. You'll need to hit the blocks in the
right order. You can see this order while in 3D mode. Anyhow, hit the third
one, then the first, then the last and finally the second one. A stairway
will appear. Go up the pipe to be back outside. Head right -- whoops.
Boss - Fracktail
First you'll want to avoid his attacks. Get ready when Tippi tells you to
revert to 3D (do so, obviously). Get out of Fracktail's tail to not get hit
by the head, then jump on his body while he flies past you. Once on it, head
left to his head and pick up a small enemy nearby with Thor. Jump and throw
said enemy at the little ball on Fracktail's antenna. Repeat this a couple
of times, until you're sent back to the tail. If you're lucky, you can jump
and land back directly on the head, and finish the process. If you fall
down, simply get on Fracktail again and continue until you finish him off.
After the fight, go through the door to collect your Pure Heart. A cutscene
will ensue. When playing as Peach, simply follow the Koopa through the
straightforward path. You'll then revert back to Mario.
Flipside Town
Take the elevator down to Merlon's house and show him your new Pure Heart.
A girl fell from the sky... hm... Take the rightmost elevator up and head
left to find Peach, obviously. You'll need a recipe for her, so head back
to the 2nd floor and enter the shop. Buy the Fire Burst for 20 coins. Then
go down to the first floor and enter chef Saffron's house on the right side.
Give her the Fire Burst so she makes some Spicy Soup for ya. Take the soup
to Peach. Now that she's all better, listen to Merlon. You'll receive the
Old Key from him and Peach will join your party. She can glide, yup.
Switch back to Mario in the menu, then (still on the second floor), flip to
3D to see a fence on the right with a locked gate. You've got a key, so put
it to use. Head right into the new area and (still in 3D), you should see
the path continues at the right of the signpost, going out of the screen.
Follow that path to the right and then head down the pipe you'll find on
your way. You're now in the Outskirts. Head left and drop down in the first
gap you come across to find two chests down there, one with the Merlon card
and one with the Merluvlee card.
Head back up and continue left. Use the 3D to get past the pillar and you'll
notice an arrow on it. Go right and follow the secret passageway to an area
with the Heart Pillar. To reach it, go left and use the 3D to get on the
pillar with the signpost. Then use Peach to glide over to the platform on
the right and glide from platform to platform until you get to the Heart
Pillar. Place the Pure Heart, then return to the Flipside Tower and enter
the new level.
Chapter 2
Chapter 2-1 ¤ Bogging to Merlee's ¤
Gloam Valley
First, go right and jump on the ledge, then use Peach to glide over the
water. Jump on the platforms to cross, then use Mario and flip to 3D to
find a reversible block. Hit it, then back in 2D use this block to jump
on the ledge above. Jump from platform to platform to reach a pipe. Go down
the pipe, then down there defeat all the enemies to make a chest appear,
which contains the Door Key. Go back out and use this key on the locked
door right above.
In the next area, go right past the door. Stand on the pipe at the end and
jump on the ledge above on the right. Take a lift then use Peach to glide
from platform to platform to the left. Head down in the pipe at the end.
You're now in the background. Go right and jump on the hills, then press the
blue switch at the end to make another door appear. Go back to the
foreground
and head through that door. Cross the next area and defeat the enemies for
points. Head into the next area.
Get across the water at the right using the platforms above, then hop into
the first pipe you see. Use Tippi here and point the wiimote at the screen
to spot a hidden blue switch. Hit this switch (even if you can't se it,
retain its emplacement) to make another pipe appear. Go down the pipe, then
in the next area pick up an enemy using Thor and throw it at the others to
get rid of them all. A chest will appear. Open it to get a new party member,
Boomer. Your new pal can blow up cracks in walls. So put him to use here by
blowing up the crack in the wall beside. Then flip to 3D and go through the
hole in the wall to find a secret room behind with a chest containing a
Watchitt card.
Head back to the surface and continue to the right. At the end of the path,
jump on the platform and blow up the blocks with Boomer. Then once up, enter
the leftmost door. Flip to 3D in there and drop down in the hole in the
floor after blowing up the blocks. Hit the blue switch, then drop in the
hole and go through the door to be back outside. A new door appeared on the
left. Go through it. You'll now be right in front of Merlee's mansion. Flip
to 3D and notice the hole in the ground in front of the mansion. Drop down
in it to get two chests containing the Swooper card and Shlurp card. Then
head back up and go right to find the Star Block.
Chapter 2-2 ¤ Tricks, Treats, Traps ¤
Merlee's Mansion
Short level. Go to the far right of the courtyard and stand on the lone
block. Jump to make another block appear over your head. Hit this block and
a ladder will appear. Climb it up to the top, then leap to left to land on
the mansion's roof. Open the chest here for a Stop Watch. Then flip to 3D
and drop down at the right of the chest to fall on the balcony below. Open
the other chest here to get a Cursya card.
Now enter the mansion. Inside, don't get hit by the dogs or you'll be
thrown outside. Cross the hallway and go through the door at the end, which
you can see while in 3D. In the next hallway, climb up the stairway to get
on the floor above. Go in the third door. Go to the end of the room and
press the button. The ceiling will start falling on you. When it's about to
crush you, flip to 3D and jump on it instead. Then let it carry you back up
as it raises.
Head left and jump on the ledge above. Follow the path and use Boomer on
the yellow blocks to clear the way. Use the 3D to make it past the pillars
and you'll eventually reach a chest at the end of the path. Open it for the
House Key. If ever you want to visit the other rooms and fall in traps,
remember to use Boomer on the switches. Anyways, now that you have the key,
head back to the main hallway and go right on the bottom floor. Use the 3D
to get past the guard dog and use the key on the lock to free it. Now head
through the door and hit the Star Block.
Chapter 2-3 ¤ Breaking the Bank ¤
Merlee's Mansion
Go right and get the coin out of the block. The vase atop will fall and
break (well sorry but that's the only way to do the level). Now time to pay
off your debt. Jump on the block to get on the floor above and glide over
to the left using Peach. You'll land on another part of the floor. Flip to
3D in the corner of the wall to see an arrow on the floor. Follow it and
walk into the wall. Open the chest to get your new Pixl friend, Slim.
Now head back right and glide over to the right part of the floor. Before
heading up any more, get in 3D and check the wall under the ledge to see
yellow blocks. Blow them up with Boomer to access a secret room. Open the
chest here for the Boo card. Now head up to the second floor. Normally, you
would have to earn some money in the rooms here and search for passwords
leading to the end, but I'll skip that and we'll go straight to the end.
Walk to the far left of the floor and flip to 3D. Do like before and walk
into the wall. Hit the block here and climb up the ladder. Walk past the
fields above using your new Pixl Slim. Simply stop moving when the fields
go past you. You'll find a safe at the other side. The password for it is
41262816. Open it and voila. All the Rubees you need. Go back to speak with
Mimi in the room on the first floor and hand over the Rubees. Now get that
star. Use Slim to pass through the bars and hit the Star Block.
Chapter 2-4 ¤ The Basement Face-Off ¤
Merlee's Basement
Go downstairs and through the first door. Take the next door. In the room
here, for a shortcut, just flip to 3D and hit the reversible blocks, then
in 2D, use those blocks to jump to the door in the northwest corner. In the
next room, go left and flip to 3D. Jump on the reversible blocks (before
hitting them) and hit the ones that are above first. Then hit the bottom
ones. Back in 2D, use them to reach the ledge above where a cutscene will
occur. After this, run back to the previous room and go around all the rooms
back to this one room where the cutscene occurred, while Mimi is looking for
you in the other rooms. Go through the door on the top floor that Mimi was
blocking earlier.
Work your way through the following rooms until you get to a room with a Big
Boo. Defeat him, then point the wiimote at the screen to reveal a hidden
stairway. Go through the door at the top, then enter the women's washroom.
Check the cabins to find Merlee. After a fight with Mimi, the fake Merlee,
play the quiz to guess who's the real one. Merlee's the left one. Then
prepare to battle Mimi.
Boss - Mimi
This is a very easy boss fight. Simply jump a couple of times on Mimi's head
after each of her attacks, while she's on the ground. You can attack several
times in a row. As for her attacks, simply jump over them.
After the battle, and the cutscene that ensues, move Luigi through the
straightforward path until you get back to Flipside Town.
Flipside Town
Head back to the Flipside Outskirts and go all the way left to the pipe with
blocks blocking it. Blow them up with Boomer, then go down that pipe. Head
all the way right and at the end of the hallway, flip to 3D and use Slim to
slide through the crack in the wall. The Heart Pillar is behind. Place the
Pure Heart, then head back to the Flipside Tower and enter the new chapter.
Chapter 3
Chapter 3-1 ¤ When Geeks Attack ¤
The Bitlands
Well your friend is kidnapped. No more Tippi for the rest of the level. Head
right at the start, past the hill, past the pipe (use 3D), then all the way
right to the end of the area. Hop into the pipe here to reappear in the
background. Go left and down the next pipe. Down there, open the chest for a
Thunder Rage. Then defeat the enemies by throwing them with Thor. A new pipe
will appear. Back in the background. Keep going left and snatch the
Ice Storm. Now that you got that, head back all the way to the pipe that was
blocking your path earlier in the foreground. Flip to 3D and hit the
reversible block, then in 2D use this block to jump on the pipe. Hit the
block above the pipe, then climb up the ladder and go through the door.
In the next area, go left across the gap, then use Peach and from the small
pipe, glide over to the higher pipe on the left. Go in to reappear in the
background once again. Head right and pick up the Catch Card SP at the end.
Now back in the foreground, go right this time and grab the Mega Star from
the block. Crush everything in your way and go through the door at the end.
Seems like you have a rival here. Run left to the block and get another
Mega Star from it. Take down the Koopa (gotta show him who's the boss), then
head right all the way to a blue block. Hit it. Nothing happens? Head back
all the way to the starting area (so the first area). Go right, past the
save block, and jump down in the gap between the two red pipes.
Down here, go right, oldschool. At the second set of elevators, let it carry
you up and jump on the high ledge at the right of the screen. Head right to
find three pipes. Head down the third one to access a secret room with some
coins. Flip to 3D here and look at the back of the room to find a chest
containing a Magikoopa card. Now head back up and head down the leftmost
pipe. You'll emerge over the first area. Use Peach and glide over to the
right, landing on a pink pillar (or trying to). Jump from pillar to pillar
then from the block to the ledge above (you'll need to take a really good
leap with Mario) where you'll find a chest with a Piranha Plant card in.
Now go back to the underground and leave by the normal exit at the end. You
will be back outside. Head right and defeat the soccer koopas in your way.
At some point one of them will halt you. Continue right and crush them all
on your path. At the very end of the path, you'll come to a castle marked
with a red X. Bomb it with Boomer. Time to fight Bowser. Four bombs will do
him. He'll then join your party, so rejoice. Go right and get the star.
Chapter 3-2 ¤ Bloops Ahoy ¤
The Tile Pool
The first area is very linear, just head right and go through the pipe at
the end using 3D. In the second area, avoid the first tentacle, then swim up
to the opening at the surface and go through the pipe. Head along the way to
the door at the bottom end of the passage. In the third room, defeat all the
enemies using Bowser and a chest will appear. Open it to meet up with your
new party member, Thudley. You can now use what I call the ground pound. Put
that to use now by pounding the yellow pillar (2 + 1) to unlock the door
(Thudley must be in your current party to use this).
Now head back to the end of the first area where the six yellow pillars are.
Pound the second, third and fifth one to make a door appear. Go in. Then
head right and defeat the piranhas by pounding them twice. You'll then face
off with a giant Blooper. Use Bowser to breath fire on the tentacles, but
only the red ones. Repeat two times. Then go right and through the pipe.
Change of scenery. Hit the Star Block to end the chapter.
Chapter 3-3 ¤ Up, Up, and a Tree ¤
The Dotwood Tree
Start climbing up the giant tree. When you get to a point where there's no
way to continue any higher (it seems), switch to 3D to see two reversible
blocks on the highest platform. Use them in 2D to continue up with Peach,
gliding from platform to platform. Then pound the yellow pillar on the right
using Thudley to make a new platform appear. Continue climbing up to the
very top from there. Use Bowser's fire breath on the door to unseal it and
go inside the tree. Here take the platform up, then head into the pipe on
your left. You'll end up at the top. Press the blue switch on the right so
it becomes purple. Now go back down through the pipe. Pink platforms will
have appeared. Use them to go up and press the switch to make blue platforms
appear. Go up again and use the moving platforms to get on the ledge on the
right side. Pound the pillar here to make a ladder appear. Climb it down and
press the switch below (same switch as before). The pink platforms will
reappear. Climb back up the ladder and use the moving platform to get on the
ledge above.
Use the newly appeared platforms to keep climbing up. On the right you'll
see you can't go any further. Flip to 3D to find a hidden pipe. Hop down in
it to end up in a room with spikes blocking your way. Use Slim to turn...
slim. Walk over the spikes while they're down, then when they come up, stop
moving. They won't touch you as long as you're using Slim. Press the blue
switch on the other side, then head back across the spikes to the main room.
Use the blue platform that just appeared and drop a bomb in the hole on the
left to make a pink platform appear. Drop a second bomb in there, then
quickly get on the next ledge on the right before the blue platform appears
and the pink one disappears. Keep going up, then use the moving platforms
and glide over to the right side of the screen with Peach to reach a pipe.
Down there, crush all the enemies with Bowser to make a chest appear. Inside
is the Peach (2) card.
Go back up and use the moving platforms to reach the pipe on the left. In
the next room, get on the platform and use Slim as it passes through the
spikes to not get hit by them. Once on the other side, go down and put down
a bomb next to the switch. Then quickly go back up before it explodes. Head
back to the main room and glide to the ledge at the right with Peach. The
new pink platform is here, but no way to go up. Flip to 3D to find a way up
using the platform. Once above, press the switch to make a door appear. You
can also hit the block on the left using Thudley to get a Mushroom. Well
we're finally done, so outta here. Drop down to the very bottom of the tree
(yes we came that far to just jump back down) and use the pipe from the
beginning to get back to the very top. Save, then go through the door.
You'll now fight Dimentio in a very easy battle. Just use Bowser and Thudley
and pound Dimentio while he stands still. Two hits should do. Once that's
done, climb up to the top of the tree and ride the red wind draught until
you get to a pipe. Hit the Star Block in the next area to end the chapter.
Chapter 3-4 ¤ The Battle of Fort Francis ¤
Fort Francis
The fort is locked. Flip to 3D and head down the pipe in the corner. Down
there pick up the white block with Thor and throw it at the blue switch
above (you'll need to take a good leap). A chest will appear, which contains
the Fort Key. Head back outside and unlock the gate. Inside the fort, flip
to 3D and you'll see there is a pipe behind the door at the right of the
save block. Jump over the door and go down the pipe. Head right and hit the
reversible block, then in 3D, jump on the block and on the platform above
to get across the spikes. Then hit the big blue switch with Thudley to free
your new comrade, Carrie. Use her to ride over the spikes on the left and
head back to the start of the room. Use 3D and get back in the pipe on the
left. Back at the entrance, go through the door on the right.
Cross the next hallway and go through the door at the end. In the next room,
which appears to be empty (but is not), use 3D to spot a stairway. Climb it
up, then go through the door on the left. In the hallway here, you'll notice
doors hanging from the ceiling. Use Thudley and the ground pound in front of
each door to make them fall. Now enter the right door. Ride Carrie across
the spikes, then in the next room, talk to the maid and answer 'True' to all
questions. She'll then ask for the code. Enter 2323. Then go into the
elevator and in the room it brings you to, jump on the robot to reach the
ledge with a chest on. Open the chest to get a Fort Key. Now that you got
that, head back to the hallway from before and enter the left door.
In the room it opens on, jump on the platform on the right (use 3D to see
said platform if you can't see it), then use Peach to glide over to the
other platform on the left. Switch back to Mario and climb up the stairway
in 3D. Go through the door on the right once you get on the floor above.
You're now outside, somewhere at the top of the fort. Walk up to the edge
and flip to 3D. You'll spot an enemy (which will spot you too) and come up
to you. Use Thor to pick up that fiend and throw it at the blue switch to
make a bridge appear. Cross this bridge and enter the door at the other side
of it. Talk to the maid in the room here as before and answer 'True' to all
her questions. Then enter the code 2828. Go through the door, then use the
robot to jump on the ledge with the chest in the next room. Open the chest
to get another Fort Key.
Now that you have both keys, head back to the hallway with the giant door
in the middle. Make sure you're using Peach and unlock the two locks on it
with the keys you just got. Then go in and watch the funny stuff.
Boss - Francis
Francis will turn invisible and have bombs dropping at you. Use Mario with
Thudley and flip to 3D to see Francis's shadow, and therefore see where he
will appear while invisible. When he reappears, jump on his head for some
damage. Repeat a couple of times while avoiding the bombs until you defeat
him for good. Shouldn't be too hard.
Tippi's saved, finally. She'll release the next Pure Heart. Watch the cut-
secene, then you'll be back in Flipside.
Flipside Town
First thing to do before anything else, head back to Chapter 3-1 and talk to
Barry still hiding in the bushes to have him join you. Now time to find the
next Heart Pillar. Make your way to the outside area right before Fliside
Outskirts (where the pipe leading down to it is) and go all the way to the
left to find some pillars. Pound the two leftmost ones with Thudley to make
the Heart Pillar appear. Place the Pure Heart, then head to the top of the
tower and enter the new level. Unfortunately, you won't be able to roam
through space just yet without anything to breath. So head back to Merlon's
house.
Not your lucky day -- he gave the helmet to some kid. Go to the third floor
of Flipside and you'll find the kid there. Talk to him to receive the
Goldfish Bowl. Now you'll need to find a place to release the fish though.
Head to the basement floor of Flipside and release the fish in the water on
the right. You can also get a card here while you're there. Flip to 3D and
to spot a chest in an alcove across the water. Open it to get the Interned
card. Then go left and take the elevator down to the last floor of the
basement. Flip to 3D and walk into the left wall to a secret room. Talk to
Welderberg and get a pipe built for 100 coins. It leads back to 2F. Now that
you have the Space Helmet, you can finally enter the new level for good.
Chapter 4
Chapter 4-1 ¤ Into Outer Space ¤
Outer Space
Left out in the space, make your way to the bottom right corner of the
screen where you should see some SOS signals. Use Tippi and point the
wiimote at the screen where the signals are coming from to reveal a
spaceship. To open it, press Up at the tip. The alien inside will help you
teleport to another area, but unfortunately not far enough (just hold A and
release after a few seconds). In anycase, you can now shoot with the 2
button. Head right, shooting the enemies on the way, until you get to a part
with a lot of asteroids. Flip to 3D around here to spot a card floating
there. Pick it up for the Foton card. Then save and go in the next warp.
Cross the next area and enter the left warp. It gets confusing from here.
In the new area, enter the warp at the far right of the screen. Then in the
next area, go right and flip to 3D to find a Catch Card SP behind the big
asteroid. Then head left all the way to another warp. Go in. In the last
area, head right until you see a pipe on an asteroid in the background. Flip
to 3D and get in the warp hidden behind the asteroid nearby. Then get in the
pipe and collect the coins. Back in space, continue right to find the
Star Block.
Chapter 4-2 ¤ A Paper Emergency ¤
Planet Blobule
Feels good to have your feet on the ground. Head right past the toilet. Now
we're in search of toilet paper. How fun does that sound? Continue right,
past the pits (if you fall in one, use 3D to get out of there) until you
get to a statue with a crack in the space above. If you drop down in the pit
right after that, you'll find an Ultra Shroom Shake below. Then head back
up and get to the door at the end. It's blocked, so use Boomer to unseal it.
Now go through it and in the next area, jump on the cliff at the right and
use Slim in 3D mode to pass through the crack in the wall. Climb up the left
side of the cliff here, then jump on the platform to the right once you
reach the top and keep going right past a tree, pipe, and green door. Flip
to 3D here to reveal a path to cross. Cross the path going into the cliff,
then jump below to a door. You can go in there if you want for some coins,
but otherwise, nothing of interest, so just continue ahead and drop down in
the pit.
Flip to 3D to find an opening in the cliff. Cross to the other side and
climb up to a door. Go through it. In the next area, hit the fourth block
to get a Mega Star. Crush everything ahead, then enter the door at the end.
The following area has some enemies and a pipe. Flip to 3D and get the
Space Food behind the pipe. Then jump on the pipe and go through the green
door at the right. Talk to Babbly in the house and decline his offer two
times to get the deal at 10 coins. You'll receive the Ancient Clue. No we're
not going to use this valuable item to find any treasure, it's our toilet
paper. Go back all the way to the beginning of the level and give this paper
to whoever's in the toilet cabin. Turns out it's Fleep, who will also join
your party. Now go back to that statue on the way ahead and flip the crack
above with Fleep to obtain a Door Key. Then move backwards towards the
entrance and look in the pit just before the one with the stairway to find
a door with a lock. Open it with the key, then hit the Star Block in the
next area to end the chapter.
Chapter 4-3 ¤ The Gates of Space ¤
Outer Limits
Work your way to the right and shoot down the blocks in your way to find a
Shooting Star. Then go all the way to the end, avoiding the obstacles, to
find a red X. Flip it with Fleep, then squish Squirps in the alcove (I like
the sound of that) and go through the gate. You'll come across another red X
in the next area, but leave it there for now. Enter the warp on your right,
next to the save block. In the following area, shoot down the blocks ahead
to find a Ghost Shroom, then head up to the top left corner to find a
Catch Card SP. Now make your way to the top right corner to find another
warp. Go in and head right to find a store selling chocolate. Buy some (the
cheapest one will do), then head back to the red X we left behind earlier.
Flip it with Fleep and twist Squirps into one of the holes. Now feed him the
chocolate you bought and he'll split. Go through the gate and hit the Star
Block in the next area to end the chapter.
Chapter 4-4 ¤ The Mysterious Mr. L ¤
The Whoa Zone
Head through the door at the right, then cross the next area but don't go
through the door at the end. Jump on the platform above the door and flip to
3D to find another door. Go through this one. Glide across the gap on the
left with Peach and go through the door. Use Fleep in the next area to flip
the enemy and defeat him. Then open the chest to obtain the Dimension Key.
Now go back to the door from earlier that we didn't enter. Go through it,
then use 3D to climb up the stairway in the next area. Unlock the door on
the left with the key and go through it. Gharly.
The ceiling is now your floor. Head right and enter the door there. Now you
are on the wall. Head up to come across a door, but don't enter it. Switch
to Peach and glide across the gap over where the door is to land on a higher
part of the wall where another door lies. Go in that door, then in the next
room, switch back to Mario and flip to 3D. Drop down in the area below and
hit the gravity block. Now you're on the ceiling, so enter the door on your
right. Continue right using Peach to glide across the gap, then using Mario
flip to 3D to find a door. Go through it. Open the chest on the right to get
a Dimension Key.
Now go back to the room with the gravity block and hit it again to be back
on the ground again. Flip to 3D to climb back up and enter the door in the
top left corner. You'll be back on the wall in the previous room. Go down
and through the first door you come across. Keep going down and go through
the door at the bottom of the wall. Use 3D in this room to find a pipe
leading to some coins, then unlock the door on the right with your new key.
In the next room, hit the gravity block to get on the ceiling, then hit the
next one to be back on the floor. Point the wiimote at the screen to find a
hidden door. Go through it.
In the room here, you'll find a different gravity block. Hit it to get on
the wall, then head up and hit the next one twice to get on the opposite
wall. Head down and enter the door. Go down again in the following room and
go through the door to come out on the floor. Go right and through the other
door to come out on the ceiling. Go left and open the chest at the end for
a Dimension Key. Now go back to the previous room. Go down and hit the
gravity block twice to be back on the other wall. Head up and hit the
gravity block once, then enter the door on the ceiling. Hit the gravity
block in the next room, then save and unlock the door. Look what we have
here...
Boss - Mr. L & Brobot
This fight is in two parts. In the first one, Mr. L will jump around and try
to get you. You can just mimic him and jump on him, but it's quicker and
simpler to just use Bowser and breathe fire at him to take him down real
fast. Then he'll call Brobot for the second part of the fight. If you have
items on you that can be useful for this fight, use them now (like half
damage or invincibility). Pick up all the candy bars that you can to get
power-ups and shoot Brobot non-stop until you get him.
Flipside Town
Back in Flipside Town, woe will strike once again, on Tippi. After the talk
with Merlon, head down to the first floor and head all the way right to
find a crack in the wall. Blow it up with Boomer, then use Mario and flip
to 3D. Go through the hole in the wall to access another part of town
behind. Go left past the first house and you'll see a crack like the one in
space. Use Fleep to flip it and a doorway will appear. Go through it as
Mario in 3D, then continue left to a temple. Hit the blocks inside from
left to right, one after the other. Then flip to 3D and head through the
opening in the center. Go left and through the door.
Continue left in 3D to emerge in a reversed Flipside Town, called...
Flopside Town. Head left and flip to 3D to find a hole in the wall. Go
through it, then go right and enter the old man's house at the right end.
Flip to 3D to find the Cooking Disk Y on the table. Now take the elevator
up to the second floor. Go left to meet up with... Norlem. He'll tell you
of the emplacement of the next Heart Pillar. Go left past the tower and
take the second elevator up to the third floor. Head right to find the
pillar and place your Pure Heart. Now use the Return Pipe to be sent back
to Flipside Tower quickly. Merlon will entrust you with Tippi again. You
can now enter the new level.
Chapter 5
Chapter 5-1 ¤ Downtown of Crag ¤
Downtown of Crag
The Cragnons are in trouble and need your help. Take down the Flora Sapiens
outside, then head right after the kidnapped Cragnons and go through the
door. In the new area, go right and head down the rightmost pipe. Defeat
the two enemies down there by making them swallow two bombs each (use
Boomer) to make a chest appear. Open the chest to get the Bowser (2) card.
Then head back up and go left. Climb up the cliff, then jump down at the
bottom of it on the other side and flip to 3D down there to find a hidden
alcove with a chest containing a Moon Cleft card. Then head back up the
cliff and use Peach to glide over to the other cliff on the left.
Head down on the other side and you'll see three blank blocks. Hit the left
one first, then the right one and finally the middle one to make a pipe
appear. Head down that pipe, then use Bowser in the next area and breathe
some fire on the elephant enemies to defeat them (10 hits each). At the end
of the path, you'll find three more blocks. Hit them in the following order:
M, R, L, L, R, M, R, L, R, R, M, R, R, L, M, M, L, L, L, R, L, L, L, M, M
to make a pipe appear (left=L, R=right, M=middle). True stuff. Head down the
pipe to reappear in the background. Head right behind the cliff to make it
to the other side. Go through the pipe and go right to hit the Star Block.
Chapter 5-2 ¤ Pixls, Tablets and Crag ¤
Gap of Crag
Start by heading right and flip to 3D to find a Primordial Fruit behind the
second pipe. Then jump in the water ahead and sink to the bottom. Open the
chest down there for the Water Tablet. Then flip to 3D and use the blocks to
swim back up to the surface. Go through the door at the right. In the next
area, go left to find a square of blocks. Flip to 3D, then use Boomer on the
blocks to blow them up. Flip back to 2D to reveal a blue switch. Press it to
make some cliffs appear so you can reach the door above. Go through it. Head
right in the new area and crush down all the enemies in your way using
Bowser's flame breath. Flip to 3D at the end of the path to find some blocks
containing goodies. Then use Fleep to flip the crack in the air below the TV
shaped rock. Press the switch that appears to raise some cliffs, then go up
to the blocks in 3D and look along the left side of the screen (while in 3D)
to notice a path leading down to a secret area. Use Bowser's firey breath on
the black rock in the middle to reveal the Fire Tablet. Pick it up, then go
back up and head back to the previous area.
This time around, go right and climb up the cliff you come across until you
can glide to the pipe on the left using Peach. Go down that pipe to reappear
inside the background, then walk to the right, behind the cliff, and get the
Ultra Shroom Shake at the top of the mountain. Then head back to the
foreground and go all the way right to a door. Flip to 3D and get the Mighty
Tonic in front of the pipe at the end of the area, then head through the
door. Go right until you cross O'Chunks' path. Take him down quickly with
Bowser, then go right and flip to 3D to find a rock shaped as Yoshi. Go
around it clockwise (from right to left, going around the back) to make the
Stone Tablet appear. Jump on Yoshi's back and grab the tablet.
Now head back to the previous area. Walk left to the tall cliff with the
blocks and climb up to the very top of it. Once there, jump in the middle to
hit an invisible block and make a ladder appear. Climb it up, then go 3D and
jump on the ledge above with the stone pillars. Place the Stone Tablet in
the left one, the Water Tablet in the middle one, and the Fire Tablet in the
right one. A new Pixl will join you: Cudge. Jump down the cliff and use
Cudge on the giant yellow block to crush it down. Hop in the new pipe and
hit the Star Block down there.
Chapter 5-3 ¤ A Crag in the Dark ¤
Floro Caverns
Change of scenery. Head all the way right, getting the block on the way for
a Super Mushroom, to meet up with Flint. Go down the pipe to the next area.
Head right again and go down the last pipe at the end of the path. In the
next area, just work your way to the right until you reach the end of the
path (ignore the door on your way). Go through the door at the right end.
Hop into the cart for a ride and head through the door on the other side.
In the area here, start by going down and flip to 3D to find a hidden alcove
where the Spania card lies. Then head back up on the ledge of blocks and
flip to 3D. Bomb the blocks blocking the way with Boomer, then flip back to
2D and continue right. Jump in the alcove at the top to find Monzo. Talk to
him to remind him to head back to Flint.
Now go back to the previous area where I told you to ignore the first door.
Go through it and hop into the cart for another ride. For this one ride
however, you'll need to flip to 3D to take the left path, bringing you to
the next door. In the next area, use Peach to glide over the gap and follow
the path to find Hornfels. Talk to him to send him back to Flint. Now head
back yourself to the first area and Flint will hand over the Cave Key. Head
back to the second area and unlock the door with the key. Then take the cart
ride to the last area. Flip to 3D here to find a giant yellow block. Smash
it with Cudge to reveal a block containing a Mega Star. Crush everything in
your way ahead, then (you may have to backtrack a bit) flip to 3D and smash
the giant block mid-way through this area to reveal a door leading to the
room with the Star Block.
Chapter 5-4 ¤ The Menace of King Croacus ¤
Floro Caverns
Head right, then jump down into the bottom path and go left, down the pipe.
You'll find a save block here. Start by going right to find a locked door.
Flip to 3D here and head back on your steps to fall down in a pit only
accessible in 3D mode. Down there, pick up a Cragnon with Thor and step on
the big red button to press it and make a pipe appear. Go down that pipe,
then down the other pipe on the left. In the next room, you'll notice the
drawing of a skull on the wall. Use Fleep and flip it to obtain a Cave Key
out of it. There's nothing else of interest here, so head back through the
pipes until you're back in the previous room with the red button. Flip to 3D
and climb up the ladder on the block. Back here, go through the locked door
from before using your newly acquired key.
In the next room, Dottie will join your party. She can make you small so you
can go through small openings. Turn small and go through the tiny red door
to be back in the second area. Go back to the save block and go through the
white door on the left. In the following room, turn small and walk through
the small passageway at the bottom of the left wall to find the Card Key</pre><pre id="faqspan-2">
behind. Go back to the door and open it using this card key, then go left
and down the pipe to a new room. Jump down and use Thudley to perform a
ground pound on the big blue switch. This will free the encaged Cragnons.
Head left to find a chest containing the Floro Cragnien card, then go right
and through the pipe to yet a new room.
O'Chunks and Dimentio are waiting for you here. Now it's time to take
down... O'Cabbage. He's now quite harder to hit and avoid, but as always,
use Bowser's flame breath to take him down quickly. After the fight, pick
up the Floro Sprout and put it on. Head through the pipe and return to the
very first area. Follow the tunnel leading right and head through the door
at the end. Walk through the scanner with the sprout on, then go through the
door. In the next room, use Boomer in front of each of the portraits while
in 3D mode to blow up a hole in the floor. In each of these holes, hit the
colored block with Thor until it turns the same color as the portrait above
(so black, white, blue, then red). A door will appear once you do that. Go
through it.
Boss - King Croacus
To defeat King Croacus (or Queen Croacus, there's something fishy here --
let's just say it to be safe), you'll need to jump on its head a couple of
times. To do so, start by jumping on the buds around it to reach the head.
You can use Bowser + Thudley to do even more damage, although he's not as
agile as Mario or Peach. But for a quick fight, use Bowser. In the second
part, the head will float around. Avoid the blades and either jump on
Croacus' head while the face is visible, or use Bowser's flame breath. A
couple of hits will do.
Flipside Town
Now that you have Dottie, there are a few things to get. You can start by
heading back to Crag Town in Chapter 5-1 and use Dottie to turn small and
enter a secret area. At the right of the door leading to the second area,
flip to 3D and enter the small passage at the bottom of the cliff. Follow
the path and once on top of the cliff, whack the Whacka to obtain a
Whacka Bump. Then flip to 3D and jump down to find a chest containing
Cooking Disk G.
Now return to Flipside and head to Flopside. Go down to B1 and enter the
juice bar. Flip to 3D and walk to the back of the room to find two chests
containing the Golden Card and Cooking Disk B. Outside the juice bar, you
can flip to 3D and jump down in the water hole to find Flamm, who sells
treasure maps. Then head down to B2 and flip to 3D. Walk into the wall
behind you to find Welderberg who can build another pipe leading to 2F. Now
that you're on this floor, flip to 3D and walk to the left to find the
Flopside Outskirts.
Smash down the big yellow block here with Cudge, then head down the pipe. Go
all the way right and down the pipe. Go left and smash the block, then down
the pipe to B2. Flip to 3D here and look behind the pipe you just came out
from to find a block. Smash it, then press the switch and open the chest to
acquire the Power Plus. Now go back to the first floor of the Outskirts and
head up to the signpost between two pillars. Flip to 3D to find a passage
leading to the left. Use Dottie to turn small and head through the opening
at the end. Then go left and flip to 3D to find a big yellow block. Smash it
with Cudge, then press the red button to make the Heart Pillar appear. Place
your Pure Heart to make the next level accessible.
*******
Before heading out though, you might want to get the hidden Pixl, who could
come in handy for the next chapters. To start the sidequest, talk to Merlee
in Flopside (directly, not across the crystal call) who'll ask you to bring
her a new crystal ball. Go to Flipside and talk to Merluvlee the same way.
She'll give you the crystal ball if you retrieve something for her from
Bestovius. Head back to Chapter 1-1, Lineland Road and go talk to Bestovius
in his house at the end of the first area. Unfortunately, he'll also ask
something of you.
Head to Chapter 1-2, Mount Lineland, and go find the mayor in the last house
of the village. He'll give you a Paper and ask you to get Merlumina's
autograph. Head back to Chapter 1-4 and trek to the end of the level. Stand
under the Star Block and Merlumina will appear and give you her Autograph,
after her speech. Now go give the autograph to the mayor, who'll give you
the You-Know-What in exchange. Go give that to Bestovius to receive the
Training Machine in return. Give this to Merluvlee to finally obtain the
Crystal Ball. Take it to Merlee who'll entrust you with the Random House
Key.
With that in hand, head down to the first floor (still in Flopside) and use
the key on the locked house behind the wall dividing the two parts of the
floor. Open the chest inside to receive Piccolo.
Chapter 6
Chapter 6-1 ¤ Sammer Guy Showdown ¤
Sammer's Kingdom
Bring healing items for this level. Piccolo can also be useful. Nice place
here. However, this level is quite different from what you've been through
so far. It consists of a series of battles. So start by heading right and
through the door. You'll come across a fighter. Defeat him, then you'll
meet King Sammer. He'll challenge you to defeat his 99 minions in a one on
one fight. They are best defeated with Bowser, using the jump + Thudley on
the normal fighters and the flame breath on the fighters with the spike
helmet. Don't worry though, you don't actually have to defeat 99 of these
guys. Just make it to the 20th duel for a cutscene. Then work your way past
a couple of fallen fighters and hit the Star Block at the end of the level.
Chapter 6-2 ¤ The End of a World ¤
Sammer's Early Duels
Go right and open the chest for... boss fight. Peach is best for this
battle.
Use her parasol (press Down) to protect yourself from all of Mimi's attacks.
Pick up the crystals she throws at you with Thoreau and throw them back at
her. You have to first take down the barrier of crystals around her to
really
hit her. After a couple of hits, she'll be defeated. Move out to the right
until a fighter stops you. You'll then be sent back to Flipside. Rest, heal,
stock on items and save, then head back into Chapter 6.
Boss - Brobot L-type
First thing you'll notice... there's nothing left. Walk to the right during
like 5 minutes (that's normal) even though it seems like nothing happens.
Eventually you'll reach a boss fight with Brobot L-type, Mr. L's newest
invention. The fight might seem hard, but it's really easy. Simply use
Boomer
and drop a bomb at Brobot's foot so that he takes a hit when landing. Repeat
a couple of times until you defeat him, then receive what's left of the Pure
Heart.
Flipside Town
Back in Flipside Town, head down to see Merlon and give him the Pure Heart.
Dimentio will appear and send you off directly to Chapter 7.
Chapter 7-0 ¤ The Underwhere ¤
The Underwhere
Now time for some gloomy settings. Head right and through the door. In the
next area, head past the pipe after switching to 3D, taking the path on the
right side of the screen. Jump over the spikes and gaps, then where the path
splits, take a left and follow the path on the left side of the screen until
you get to the other side of this area. Hit the reversible block at the end,
then jump on it in 2D to reach the Ultra Shroom Shake on top of the pipe. In
the next room, pay the creepy character 4 preciousss coinsss to get a ride
acrosss the river. Then keep going right and speak with Queen Jaydes. She'll
ask you to find Luvbi for her and give you the Door Key.
Head back to the river and plunge down to the bottom (the water isn't
poisonous, have no fear) Look for the bubbles in the middle and flip tp 3D
to notice a hole in ground. Sink in, then unlock the door with the key. In
the next area, swim to the right and push down the block you come across.
Follow the block down and press the lever beside it to drain the water. Once
that's done, jump on the pipe to reach the ledge at the right and break the
blocks above the path there. Then head back to the lever and press it again
fill the room back with water.
Swim through the path at the right where you smashed the blocks and keep
going right until you come to a dead end. Flip to 3D here and head over to
the right side of the screen, where a tunnel is. Follow the tunnel to the
next area. Swim to the far right of this room to spot another big block.
Flip to 3D to get behind it, then push it down. Go right from it and press
the lever on the wall to drain the water. Head left and once on the other
side of the room, flip to 3D and head through the opening in the wall at the
right.
Go down the pipe here for some coins, then go through the door. Jump on the
fountains to reach the cliff at the right where you'll find Mr. L hiding. No
wait it's Luigi. Plot Twist! Bet you didn't see that one coming. Ahyhow,
switch back to Mario and flip to 3D to find a Long-Last Shake behind the
boulder where Luigi was hiding. Now head back left past the fountains and
right below the cliff where the door you came out from is, flip to 3D to
find an alcove with a chest containing the Dry Bones card.
Switch back to Luigi and hold Down to perform the Super Jump, so you can get
back on the cliff above. Go back through the door, then back in the room
where the water was, hit the block on the right to make a ladder appear.
Fill back the room with water, then swim out of it. Work your way back to
the beginning of the second area of the level. If you need healing, the
fountain in the first area can restore your health, and there's a save block
also. Anyways, at the start of the second area, look on the left for two
tall pipes. Use Luigi to reach them and jump on the ledge at the right
above.
To cross this area, use Luigi's Super Jump to jump over the pipes blocking
your way. When you get to the end, go down the pipe at the left of the door
to reappear in the background. Go down the pipe on the left, then the pipe
on the right. In the underground room, defeat the enemy flying around to
make a chest appear. Open it for the Peach (3) card. Now go back to the door
in the area all the way above and go through it. In the next room, get past
the pipes to find Luvbi, finally. Tell her her name, then get ready to
backtrack all the way back to Queen Jaydes, who'll give you back your Pure
Heart.
Flipside Town
Return to Flipside and listen to Merlon. Time to find the next Heart Pillar.
Head back to Flopside. Go to the Outskirts and head down the pipe. On the
first floor, go all the way right and head down the pipe at the other side
of the area. Go left and switch to Luigi. Jump over the wall blocking the
way to find the Heart Pillar on the other side. Place the Pure Heart to open
Chapter 7 (the real thing).
Chapter 7
Chapter 7-1 ¤ Subterranean Vacation ¤
The Underwhere
You know the way, so head all the way right and talk with Queen Jaydes.
She'll ask you to escort Luvbi to the Overthere. Go through the door and
hit the Star Block on the right.
Chapter 7-2 ¤ The Sealed Doors Three ¤
Underwhere Road
Go through the door at the right to wind up into darkness. Follow Luvbi up
the path until you spot a chest over a ledge. When you get to that ledge
where the chest is below, drop down on the right to get it. Inside is the
Dark Boo card. Keep going up from there until you get to the first sealed
door. Point the wiimote at the door with Tippi to reveal Dorguy. He'll ask
you three questions. Answer Queen Jaydes, Dorguy the First, and 6 times.
He'll let you through.
In the next room, talk with the D-Men to acess the rightmost door. You'll
find Bowser in there. To defeat him, either use Boomer or Cudge, or use
Carrie to jump on his head. After a couple of hits, he'll join your party
again. Back in the previous room, the D-Men will hand over the Door Key.
Open the middle door with it. In the next room, use Bowser to light the
torches with his flame breath. You can now also defeat the Dry Bones. Climb
up to the very top of the room to find the second sealed door. Point it with
the wiimote to wake it up. This time, the answers to the questions he'll ask
may vary, so examine each screen he shows you and use your memory to answer.
He'll first ask you the number of red objects, then the numbers of
triangles,
then the color of the moving objects, then the number of the question
(answer
is 4), and finally the shape that was the most plentiful.
After you answer correctly, he'll let you through. In the next area, you'll
see a pink door. Predictable. Go through it to find... no it's not Peach,
sorry. Talk to the rightmost lady and accept to help her. She'll send you
back to a previous room. Talk to the D-Man here to receive the Diet Book.
Now
go back all the way to the old woman and give her the book for the Door Key
in exchange. Unlock the door outside the room and go in. In this area, use
Luigi to work you way to the end of the room. Switch to Bowser before
talking
with Dorguy if you want to make the fight to come easier.
Point the wiimote at him to trigger an old school turn-based battle against
three Underchomps. If you have Piccolo, select Pixl and then Piccolo to put
all three Chomps to sleep. Then use Thudley to take them down one by one.
You should be able to win the fight in three turns without taking any
damage.
Once you're done with Underchomp, go through the last door and hit the Star
Block at the right.
Chapter 7-3 ¤ The Forbidden Apple ¤
Overthere Stair
Nice, eh? This level consists of stairs leading to the Overthere. Also note
that some of the clouds have numbers if you look closely. I'll refer to
them.
Climb up to cloud 13 (pretty easy), then use Luigi to jump up to the cloud
above. Move left to cloud 14 and flip to 3D with Mario to find reversible
blocks. Hit them, then keep climbing up. Use the bouncing clouds to bounce
up to the very top where you'll find a door. Go through it to reach stair 2.
Head up using Luigi and the bouncing clouds until you reach cloud 25. Once
there, before heading up any more, go right, past the enemies, and open the
chest at the end to find the Rawbus card. Then keep heading up the same way
until you reach cloud 30. Go through the door here to stair 3.
Head up and go through the first door you come across to find a tree with
blue fruit. Knock them down with Thudley to get three Blue Apples. Then head
back to stair 3 and go left. Climb up the blocks to reach the cloud above,
but don't go any higher. Drop down on the left side of the cloud to find a
chest below. Open it to get the Ruff Puff card. Then climb up to cloud 37
and flip to 3D to spot a series of blocks going straight ahead. Jump on them
to cross over to cloud 38. Here, go down and use the bouncing cloud to reach
the top of the stair. Go through the door to stair 4.
Ascent to the right and use the bouncing cloud to reach a door above on
cloud
46. Enter it and go right to find a tree with red fruit. Use Thudley to
knock
them down and pick up the Red Apples. Make sure you keep at least one. Now
go
back to stair 4 and to the entrance door. Get on cloud 42 and wait for a
platform to come down on the left. Ride it up to the cloud above. There is a
door here with a save block, but don't go in yet. Instead, get on the other
platform at the left of the one who brought you here and ride it up to a
chest on the left containing a Shroom Shake. Then go right and use the
bouncing cloud below to fly up to the top cloud. Go right and through the
door to stair 5.
Here, you can go in the door on the left for some Pink Apples, the tree can
be seen while in 3D mode. In any case, from the entrance door of stair 5,
use Luigi to get on the cloud above, then go right and ride up the platform
next to the two blocks. Use Luigi again to get on cloud 53 above. Flip to 3D
here using Mario and follow the path going off the screen on the right side.
You'll find a door here, go through it to find a tree with black fruit.
Knock
them down and make sure to grab at least one Black Apple. Keep it on you,
don't eat any of those.
Now head back to stair 4 and go through the door next to the save block on
cloud 43. Go left to find Peach, fast asleep. Give her the black apple to
wake her up. She'll rejoin your party. Now that your party is finally
complete again, head back to stair 5. Use Luigi to get on the cloud above,
then on the left use the bouncing cloud to bounce up. Climb to cloud 54,
then
climb up the blocks and use Peach to glide over to cloud 55 on the right.
Use
the bouncing clouds here to go up until you reach cloud 60. Go through the
door here to stair 6.
Go left for a Super Mushroom in the block, then use the platforms to climb
up
until you reach cloud 68 where a chest containing a Long-Last Shroom awaits.
Keep going up and cross the pillars on the left. Use Luigi to jump on the
cloud above and go all the way right on cloud 69 for a chest containing a
Thunder Rage. Then go back left and jump on cloud 70. Go through the door to
reach stair 7. The area isn't too hard, same as before, ascent to the top
using the platforms, Luigi, pillars and clouds. On your way you'll find a
chest containing a Life Shroom. Then go left to find Cyrrus the cloud. Give
him the Red Apple you've been keeping to make him grow bigger. Don't hit the
blue block on the left. Jump on Cyrrus to reach cloud 80. Go through the
door
here, then in the last area, use Peach to glide across the chasm on your
right and reach the last cloud where the Star Block is.
Chapter 7-4 ¤ A Bone-Chilling Tale ¤
The Overthere
Finally at the Overthere. This level is divided in sectors. In the first
sector, go right and jump on the moving cloud using Luigi. Then ride the
other moving cloud to the right and at the locked door, drop down on the
left where you can see a block. Go through the door on the right down here
to reach sector 2. Defeat the enemies here to save the Nimbi, who'll give
you a Door Key to thank you. Head back to the locked door in sector 1 and
go through it to reach sector 3. Head right using Peach to cross the gaps
and use Bowser's flame breath to free the Nimbi from the ice. Head back on
yours steps and talk to the Nimbi to have him take you up. Go right and free
the other Nimbis from the ice, then go through the door to reach sector 4.
Free all the Nimbis from the ice here and the elder will give you a Door
Key.
Return to sector 3 and unlock the locked door. Go through it to reach
sector 5.
At the left of the door, drop down in the gap to land on a cloud below. Go
through the pipe here to reach a section with some coins. Use Luigi to jump
on the clouds above to reach two chests containing the Skellobit card and
the Skellobomber card. Then go back to sector 5 and jump on the clouds on
the
left using Luigi to reach a door on the top cloud, leading to sector 6.
Here,
flip to 3D with Mario to find a path going off the screen on the right.
Follow it to an area full of enemies. Hit the block on the left to obtain a
Mega Star. Crush all the enemies on your way until you reach the last cloud.
Flip to 3D here to find another path, but going to the left this time.
Follow it to a washroom. Inside is Yebbi hiding. Tell him you're a monster
and he'll hand over the Yellow Orb.
Now go back to sector 5. At the right of the bottom door, hit the red block
to move the structure to the right. You'll come to another structure and a
door. Don't go through it yet, just flip to 3D to find a bunch of enemies
and a door hidden behind the structure. Go through this one door to reach
sector 7. Head right and drop down in the chasm to find a big chest with a
Nimbi inside, who'll give you an Ultra Shroom Shake. Then head back up and
cross the gap using Peach. Defeat the enemies here to help Rebbi, then talk
to him to receive the Red Orb.
Now go back all the way to sector 2, where you saved the first Nimbi from
enemies. Go all the way right up to the last pillar at the very end. Flip to
3D to find out it's actually a pipe. Go down that pipe and in the room
below,
defeat the enemy to make a chest appear. Open it for the Cooking Disk PU.
Then head back up and use Luigi to jump on the clouds above. Head left to
find Blubbi. Free him from the ice using Bowser, then talk to him to receive
the Blue Orb. Now that you have all three orbs, go back to sector 4 where
the elder is and stand on the pedestal at the right of the temple. Place the
three orbs to make a bridge appear. Cross the bridge and go through the door
on the other side. Watch the cutscene here, then go right to get to a
stairway. Flip to 3D and head along the left side of the stairs to find a
chest containing the Spiky Skellobit card. Then head upstairs and go through
the door.
Boss - Bonechill
Bonechill's quite intimidating but in fact he's really easy to defeat if
handled the right way. Use Luigi and stand below Bonechill's head. Charge
up a Super Jump to avoid the ice missiles and ice breath, then once
Bonechill is done attacking, release the Super Jump to smash right into his
head. Then jump on it a few times before falling back done. This should do
a lot of damage, so repeat the process a few more times to get rid of him.
Flipside Town
After the cutscene and back in Flipside, you can now get a few things with
Luigi. Head down to B2F and use his Super Jump to get on the blocks
surrounding a pipe there. While on top of the blocks, flip to 3D with Mario
to find a secret passageway leading to the right. Follow it to another room
in the Outskirts. Jump down and get behind the pipe. Press the blue switch
to reveal a big chest behind the wall. It contains the HP Plus.
Another thing to get, if you have Piccolo (refer to this sidequest), go in
the area behind the fence in front of Merlon's house on 2F (the one leading
to the Outskirts) and go left. Use Luigi to jump on the high platform and
blow up the blocks using Boomer. Then go through the pipe to reach 3F, but
behind the fence. Go all the way right to find a pillar with an image of
Piccolo on it. Use Piccolo in front of this pillar to reveal a chest
containing the Merlee card.
Now let's find the last Heart Pillar to place the last Pure Heart. Head back
to Flopside and to the Outskirts (2F). Once there, head all the way right,
using Luigi to get past the pillars to find the Heart Pillar at the far
right. Place the Pure Heart. Now head up to the dark tower in Flopside to
find the last door leading to Chapter 8. Make sure you're ready before
entering. Bring all your healing items with you.
Chapter 8
Chapter 8-1 ¤ The Impending Darkness ¤
Castle Bleck Entry
Head forward and enter the castle. The first hallway is full of enemies.
So if you want to avoid them, cross the hallway in 3D. In the second room,
climb up the stairways and ignore the first door you come across. Go
through the rightmost door. Defeat the eyeballs in this room by circling
around them in 3D, then use Luigi to jump on the high platform in the middle
of the room and go through the door. In the outside area, go left and use
Luigi to jump on the ledge and find two chests containing a Stop Watch and
a Long-Last Shake. Then go right and jump on the opposite ledge. Use Peach
to glide across the gap and go down the pipe. In the corridor down there,
you can use Peach to block the attacks with her parasol and send them back
at the enemies. Open the chest at the very end to get the Castle Bleck Key.
Go back to the eyeballs room and unlock the door here.
Cross the next hallway, then go up the stairway and get the Ultra Shroom
from the block. In the next room, you'll find unlit torches. Use Bowser to
light the second, third and fifth torches. A stairway will appear. Climb up
the stairway and flip to 3D at the top to find a door. O'Chunks will welcome
you in the next room. Get him in a corner and pound him a few times using
Thudley. After the fight, hit the Star Block in the next room to end the
chapter.
Chapter 8-2 ¤ The Crash ¤
Castle Bleck Foyer
Make your way past the enemies in the first hallway, then you'll find Merlon
in the next room. Obviously it's a trap, but the other door is locked, so
not
much choice. Hit the block to fall down in a jail. Blow up the crack in the
wall at the right with Boomer to reveal an opening leading to the other
side.
Go through it in 3D, then head up the pipe and flip back to 3D to find a
Thunder Rage. Then head back down and go through the door on the left. To
avoid the spinning flames easily, flip to 3D and get to the block at the
back
of the room. Hit it several times (something like 10), then head back to the
jail room and a pipe should have appeared. Go through it to reach a ledge
with three chests containing a Courage Shell, a Castle Bleck Key and a
Life Shroom.
Once you've got that, flip to 3D and fall through the hole to end back up in
the room where you originally fell in the trap. Unlock the door with the
key,
then head up the stairway in the next room and go through the first door.
Here, go right and flip to 3D to find a passage leading around the wall on
the right. It leads to a chest containing an Ultra Shroom Shake. Then go
back to the stairway and go through the door at the top.
In this room you'll see mushrooms hanging from ropes. Doesn't seem very
trustworthy, but you can still get them if you wish, except you'll have to
fight some enemies below. Get the third mushroom though, as the key for the
locked door is down there. Flip to 3D to find the enemies and defeat them
using Thor to get the Castle Bleck Key. Then unlock the door to find Merlee
in the next room. Once again a trap, but you can fool her this time. When
she asks you what stuff you hate, answer the Ultra Shroom, the Thunder Rage
and cooking mistake. In the following rooms, you'll get those items.
Peach will then take Mimi on a deadly fight. Same strategy as previously.
Pick up the rubies using Thor and throw them at Mimi to destabilize her,
then jump on her head until you chop off of the legs. You can protect
yourself from all of Mimi's attack by simply using Peach's parasol. I found
it best to wait until Mimi's on the ceiling to strike. Simply hold a ruby
jump into her head, you don't even need to throw it. Then run to the left
and jump on her head before she starts throwing off more rubies. Get all her
legs off to defeat her. Hit the Star Block in the next room to end the
chapter.
Chapter 8-3 ¤ Countdown to Destruction ¤
Castle Bleck Interior
Go right past all the enemies, then in the second room, use Luigi to jump on
a ledge above the room (you can't really see it unless you're in 3D, but
it's
at the right of the door). Defeat the enemies up there, then drop down at
the
end of the ledge and go through the door. You'll find Dimentio(s) here.
Avoid
the attacks, then jump on the platforms below the mirrors until you get on
the fifth one. Flip to 3D here and go through the mirror, which is in fact
an
opening in the wall leading to a room on the other side. Go left here for a
chest with a Castle Bleck Key and right for an Ice Storm. Return to the
mirror room and go right to find a locked door. Go through it using the key.
In the next room, flip to 3D at the bottom of the stairway to find a passage
behind it. Go through the door at the right, then in the following rooms
you'll notice three blocks above. In the first room, hit the last block
(with
Luigi) to make a door appear. In the second room, hit the middle block. In
the third room, don't go through the door, instead hit the last block to
have
the real door appear. In the last room, hit the middle block, then third,
then first to make a chest appear. Inside is a Castle Bleck Key. Return to
the room with the stairways and unlock the door at the top.
The next room is hard to figure out. You'll have to follow a specific path
as
shown by arrows drawn on the wall (you can only see them while in 3D). Use
Luigi to jump on top of the first ledge, then drop down and go right, past
the second ledge. Jump on the second ledge from the right, then jump on the
platform above on your right and go right, then drop down and go through the
door.
In the next mirror room, look for the mirror that is actually an opening
(it doesn't shine like the rest) on the seventh platform. Flip to 3D and
jump
through it. Behind is an army of Dimentio clones. Start by going right and
get the Super Shroom from the block. Then use Cudge to get rid of a couple
of
Dimentio around to reveal a chest hidden among them (look for something
brown
in the crowd). Open it to get the Castle Bleck Key. If you want, go left for
a Thunder Rage in a chest. Return to the room and go right. Save, then
unlock
the door.
You'll find Dimentio waiting for you here. After the conversation, flip the
crack in the wall with Fleep and hit the block to change dimension. You'll
now go through a series of older levels. In each of them, follow Dimentio
and
find the crack to flip it with Fleep and move on to the next level. When you
finally get back to Castle Bleck, Luigi will take on Dimentio. Just avoid
the
attacks and jump on his head a couple of times, finding the real one when he
sends out clones. After the battle, hit the Star Block.
Chapter 8-4 ¤ Tippi and Count Bleck ¤
Castle Bleck Inner Sanctum
Go through the door on the right, then you'll find yourself in a seemingly
empty room. Use Tippi and point the wiimote at the screen to reveal a
hidden door. Cross the next room using the moving pillars and getting in 3D
when a wall blocks your way. In the room right after this one, jump on the
moving platforms, then you'll come to a safe ledge in the middle. Flip to 3D
here to find a pipe on the left. Go down this pipe and flip to 3D in the
empty room below. Use Dottie to turn small and go through the passageway at
the back of the room to find a chest containing a Castle Bleck Key. Return
to the room above and jump on the platforms at the right to reach a locked
door. Go through it using the key.
Get past the enemies in the next hallway by flipping to 3D or Cudge them.
The next rooms are a series of hallways set up like a maze. Flip to 3D and
look for the openings in the walls to make it to the exit. The doors have
a thicker border and you can see through them. Find your way through the
maze, getting a Shooting Star, Super Shroom Shake and Ultra Shroom Shake out
of chests on your way. There are three rooms like this, then you'll come to
a block with an Ultra Mushroom and a save block. Make sure to save, then
head through the door for the final confrontation.
Boss - Count Bleck
When the fight starts, don't try to attack him, as you can't yet. Just avoid
him until a cutscene occurs. Once Bleck looses his invincibility, you can
start attacking him. Avoid his attacks at all costs, as they do a lot of
damage. Attack him simply by jumping on his head, as always. Luigi is pretty
good for this fight, if you favor agility. If you go for power, use Bowser
with the Pixl Thudley for massive damage. The fight is simplistic, but you
may have to use a few healing items.
Once you defeat him and after another cutscene, you'll fight Dimentio. He'll
send a new version of Brobot. This one is a lot harder to defeat. Jump on
the
platforms around the area to reach Borbot's head (or you can simply attack
the collar around it). Here again, Bowser works well for a lot of damage,
but Mario might work better for precise jumping. Whatever you decide, avoid
Brobot's attacks and jump on his head until you defeat him.
After the cutscene and credits, make sure to save your game as you can still
continue playing on the same file.

Treasure Maps
You can buy Treasure Maps from Welderberg in Flopside (B1F). To find the
treasures, you'll first need to buy the map of the tresure you want. If you
don't have the map, you can't get the treasure even if you're at the right
spot. To get a treasure, use Fleep to flip the background where marked on
the corresponding map. I'll give locations, but you can easily find the
exact spots by looking at the maps.

Cooking Disks
You'll need to find Cooking Disks to get all the cooking recipes.
CD R: On the second floor of Flipside, flip to 3D and go to the other part
of the floor on the right, behind the gate. Go left in 2D and jump on the
ledge using Luigi. Blow up the blocks with Boomer, then go through the pipe
to reach 3F. Jump on the ledge at the left once you get there and use Tippi
to reveal a hidden block above the pipe. Jump on it, then use Tippi again to
reveal another block and keep going like this until you reach a ledge with a
chest containing the Cooking Disk R.
CD Y: On the first floor of Flopside, enter the old man's house in the

on the table.
CD W: On the second floor of Flopside, flip to 3D and go to the other part
of the floor on the right, behind the gate. Go right in 2D to find a pipe.
Use Tippi to reveal a ledge under the pipe, then jump on it using Luigi and
go through the pipe to reach 3F. Jump on the ledge at the right, then use
use Tippi to reveal a block above. Jump on it, then use Tippi again to
reveal another block and keep going like this until you reach a ledge with
a chest containing the Cooking Disk W.
CD B: On Flopside B1F, enter the juice bar. Flip to 3D and walk to the back
of the room to find two chests containing the Cooking Disk B.
CD G: In Chapter 5-1, At the right of the door leading to the second area,

the path and once on top of the cliff, flip to 3D and jump down to find a
chest containing Cooking Disk G.
CD PU: In sector 2 of Chapter 7-4, go all the way right up to the last
pillar at the very end. Flip to 3D to find out it's actually a pipe. Go
down that pipe and in the room below, defeat the flying enemy to make a
chest appear. Open it for the Cooking Disk PU.
Secrets
Optional Pixls
Barry: Barry can be found hiding in the bush at the entrance of Chapter 3-1.
Dashell: Dashell is what you obtain for completing the Pit of 100 Trials in
Flipside. To open the Pit, go to Flipside B2F (there's also one in Flopside)
and use Luigi to jump on top of the weird colored blocks surrounding a pipe.
Flip to 3D with Mario and press the switch to open a passage. Head down the
pipe to get to the Pit. There are 100 Floors, so bring a lot of healing
items.
Piccolo:
To start the sidequest, talk to Merlee in Flopside (directly, not across the
crystal call) who'll ask you to bring her a new crystal ball. Go to Flipside
and talk to Merluvlee the same way. She'll give you the crystal ball if you
retrieve something for her from Bestovius. Head back to Chapter 1-1,
Lineland
Road and go talk to Bestovius in his house at the end of the first area.
Unfortunately, he'll also ask something of you.
Tiptron: After you beat the game, you can buy Tiptron from Francis for 999
coins (Francis is still in his room in the Fort).
